The overwhelming consensus among Natopian historians, political scientists, and sociologists holds that Nathan III's death, and the subsequent reintegration, marks the true beginning of "Modern Natopia." The division, though legally sound, had proven to be an artificial separation of a fundamentally unified people. The grief that united East and West in 1716 demonstrated that Natopian national identity transcended administrative boundaries. The constitutional framework established during reintegration, later reformed in 1751 with the creation of the Upper Frenzy, remains the foundation of Natopian governance today. | The overwhelming consensus among Natopian historians, political scientists, and sociologists holds that Nathan III's death, and the subsequent reintegration, marks the true beginning of "Modern Natopia." The strike, carried out at the request of the Suren Confederacy using two Damocles-class orbital bombardment platforms (NSS Themis and NSS Nemesis), destroys 17 corsair vessels, damages 42 others, and renders 80% of the port's military infrastructure inoperable. The operation marks a turning point in the Gulf of Zinjibar campaign, significantly reducing the corsair threat to Raspur Pact shipping. | |||

The Timeline of Modern Natopia chronicles the major political, constitutional, military, and imperial events in Natopia from the reintegration of the divided empire in 1716 AN to the present day. This period, designated by Natopian historians as the "Modern Era," encompasses the reunification of Eastern Natopia and Western Natopia under Vadoma I, the subsequent constitutional reforms establishing the bicameral Frenzy, and the imperial succession following Vadoma's death in 1752 AN.
The timeline draws upon official records, constitutional documents, and scholarly consensus to present an accurate and comprehensive account of events that shaped contemporary Natopian society. Entries are organized chronologically by year and, where possible, by specific date using the Norton calendar format (day.month.year).
Background

The Division of the Natopian Empire began in 1707 AN when Emperor Nathan III proposed splitting the Bovic Empire of the Natopian Nation into two co-equal viceroyalties. The Emperor reasoned that the cultural, demographic, and economic differences between the territories east and west of the River Egale had grown so pronounced that a single imperial administration could not adequately serve both regions. The demesnes east of the River Egale were organized into Eastern Natopia, while those to the west became Western Natopia. A national referendum in 1708 AN approved the division, and the constitutional process separating the empire into two sovereign states concluded in 1709 AN. Nathan III retained the title of Emperor of the Natopians while serving as Eastern Emperor, and Vadoma I and Edward I served as Co-Emperors in the West.
Despite the formal sovereignty vested in both governments, the Imperial Council of Natopia at the federal level came to exert increasing influence over the coordination of common economic, social, military, and diplomatic policies. The developing de facto reunion was made official when Nathan III died suddenly in 1716 AN. Vadoma I succeeded him to the Eastern Natopian throne, reuniting both crowns under the same Natopian sovereign. Nathan's funeral on 10.IV.1716 AN became a watershed moment: media and politicians from both West and East mourned the loss of their emperor. Nathan was not an Eastern emperor; he was a Natopian emperor.
The overwhelming consensus among Natopian historians, political scientists, and sociologists holds that Nathan III's death, and the subsequent reintegration, marks the true beginning of "Modern Natopia." The division, though legally sound, had proven to be an artificial separation of a fundamentally unified people. The grief that united East and West in 1716 AN demonstrated that Natopian national identity transcended administrative boundaries. The constitutional framework established during reintegration, later reformed in 1751 AN with the creation of the Upper Frenzy, remains the foundation of Natopian governance today.

Timeline
1716
- 10.IV.1716 AN: State funeral of Emperor Nathan III held. Media and politicians from both Western Natopia and Eastern Natopia mourn together, signaling the beginning of the reintegration process.
- 14.VI.1716 AN: The Frenzy of Western Natopia adopts a resolution calling for reintegration of the divided empire.
- 24.VI.1716 AN: The Frenzy of Eastern Natopia issues a similar resolution supporting reintegration.
- 2.VII.1716 AN: Vadoma I appoints Arjuna Dhritarashtra as Chancellor in both Western Natopia and Eastern Natopia, unifying executive leadership under a single government.
- Late 1716 AN: The Anders Defense Review of 1716, named for Secretary of Defense Frederik Anders the Younger, is conducted, leading to a comprehensive overhaul and reorganization of the Natopian Defense Force between 1716 AN–1740 AN. The review marked a complete restructuring of the Army's traditional establishment that had been in place since the War of Lost Brothers in the mid-17th century AN. In the wake of the review, the Natopian Navy suffered from lower prioritization and resourcing compared to the Army and Spacefleet branches, as orbital platforms could perform some strategic missions traditionally handled by navies.
1717
- 1717 AN: Coronation of Vadoma I and Edward held, formally recognizing Vadoma as sovereign of the reunited Natopian Empire.
- 1717 AN: Imperial Proclamation of Unity issued, formally dissolving the legal separation between Eastern Natopia and Western Natopia.
- 14.X.1717 AN: New Constitution of Natopia ratified in national referendum, establishing the constitutional framework for the reunited empire.
- Late 1717 AN: "Harmonization Laws" begin passage through the Frenzy to align trade regulations and legal standards between the formerly separate jurisdictions.
- 20.XIV.1717 AN-24.XIV.1717 AN: State visit of King Manco Cápac I to Natopia.
1718
- ??.1718 AN: Operation Sable Shield begins. Natopia and Nouvelle Alexandrie, at the request of Keltia Command, commence a joint military operation to support the Kingdom of Normark in the Liberation of Dalen from the Confederacy of the Dispossessed. Natopia provides military advisory support, financial assistance, and commits forces for potential deployment.
- Early 1718 AN: "Harmonization Laws" continue passage, standardizing commercial regulations, professional licensing, and civil procedures across all demesnes.
- Early to Mid-1718 AN: Joint Economic Committee of Natopia is established to coordinate fiscal policy; internal trade barriers between former Eastern and Western territories formally dismantled.
- 15.XI.1718 AN: Natopia assists Nouvelle Alexandrie in Operation Purple Splendor in Keltia, supporting allied operations against the Confederacy of the Dispossessed in Passas (present-day New Caputia).[1]
1719
- ??.1719 AN: As forces of the Confederacy of the Dispossessed approach Sårensby, the Raspur Pact's Keltia Command activates the military component of Operation Sable Shield. Rapid response forces from Natopia and Nouvelle Alexandrie are deployed to Elijah's Rest and Sårensby.
- Mid-1719 AN: Interim federal judiciary constituted; federal departments from both former governments merged into unified ministries headquartered in Lindstrom.
- Mid-{{AN|1719}]: The process of rebuilding and recapitalizing the Natopian Navy begins in earnest, by which point many vessels dating back to the War of Lost Brothers were already being decommissioned. The relative neglect of the Navy following the Anders Defense Review had created significant capability gaps in maritime power projection.
- Late 1719 AN: Transitional period begins for remaining governmental functions to complete relocation to Lindstrom.
- 17.V.1719 AN - 27.XII.1719 AN: Grand Bovic Imperial Tour of 1719: Vadoma I and the Imperial Family launch a massive tour of all of Natopia to bring the country together, inaugurate significant pieces of infrastructure around the country, and connect with the people during Natopian reintegration. The tour is considered to be a wide success, reintroducing the Empress and the Imperial Family to a both a domestic and international audience.
- 19.XIV.1719 AN: The 1719 Normark coup d'état results in the removal of King Tarjei Thorgilsson from power and his exile to Los Bananos, with Natopia and Nouvelle Alexandrie supporting the transition. Fredrik Michael Tarjeisson succeeds his father as King of Normark, leading to significantly increased Raspur Pact support for Normark.
- 23.XIV.1719 AN: Natopia's Orbital Defence Force 2nd (Bombardment) Group begins kinetic bombardment on key military sites and weapon caches occupied by the Confederacy of the Dispossessed in the Keltian The Green and near Sårensby. The strikes support ground operations by New Alexandrian and Natopian rapid reaction forces.
1720
- Early 1720 AN: Formal ceremony held to dissolve the Transitional Government; permanent unified government of the Bovic Empire of the Natopian Nation takes office. Reintegration process complete.
- 3.III.1720 AN: Vista de Nada Palace announces that Crown Princess Adelaide is engaged to Crown Prince Uturuncu of Nouvelle Alexandrie.
- Mid-1720 AN: 1720 Natopian Frenzy elections conducted, the first elections since reintegration. Results produce a hung Frenzy with the FJBP under Arjuna Dhritarashtra holding a clear plurality. The FJBP, Parti Alexandrin, and N&H form a unity government with Arjuna Dhritarashtra continuing as Chancellor.
- 9.VI.1720 AN: Units of the Natopian Spacefleet launch kinetic orbital strikes on the Corsair ports of Pallisica, Port Brent, and Sincláir on the northwest coast of Corum as part of the Corsair Wars. The strike on Pallisica proves highly successful, destroying the shipyard's main dry dock and crippling the port's logistical capabilities. However, strikes on Port Brent and Sincláir fail due to calibration errors and atmospheric interference, leaving those ports largely unaffected. This operation marked the first occasion on which all three Damocles-class orbital bombardment platforms were employed in a single coordinated strike.
- 14.VII.1720 AN: Corsair Wars. Elements of the eighth, ninth, and twelfth Corsair fleets engage the SATCo trade fleet bound from Nivardom to San Francisco, Nouvelle Alexandrie in Keltia.
- 16.VII.1720 AN: The Natopian Spacefleet launches kinetic orbital strikes on the former Bassarid port of Rei in Eura, targeting the remnants of the Corsair First Fleet. The strike is partially successful, with between 25% and 50% of the fleet damaged or destroyed.
1721
- 15.III.1721 AN: The Treaty of Dynastic Separation between Natopia and Nouvelle Alexandrie is signed at the Lindström Summit in Lindström. The treaty establishes that the thrones of Natopia and Nouvelle Alexandrie shall remain separate despite the marriage of Crown Prince Uturuncu of Nouvelle Alexandrie (later Sinchi Roca II) and Crown Princess Adelaide of Natopia (later Queen of Nouvelle Alexandrie via marriage).
- 9.XII.1721 AN: Professor Robyna Markbell-Howells and her team become the first Micran humans to observe Theogiorickans in movement at the ruined city of Theogiorick in the Antarctic region.
- 18.XIII.1721 AN: The Natopian Spacefleet's Orbital Defence Force confirms the presence of at least fifty unidentified spacecraft, each approximately 800 metres long, at one half astronomical unit from Micras. The Spacefleet orders its main capital ships to rendezvous at the Natopian International Space Station to form a battlegroup, and dispatches a Zion-class survey ship with three Virgo-class escorts to investigate the alien armada.
- 20.XIII.1721 AN: Four Natopian vessels make contact with the alien fleet, observing the Star of Sathrati insignia and identifying what appears to be the long-lost Kaiser Ayreon, a Behemoth-class gravship launched from Elwynn in 1591 AN.
