The Confoederatio Aemilia (Problematic, Istvanistani translation: Aemilian Federation, Meckelnish translation: Aamilijë) is a federal state, headed by, Princess Emilia Antoinette. When it was founded in the 1720's, the association included Stadt Taktwinkel, Stadt Sankt Rosa and Murder. The Confoederatio Aemilia was a successor state to the City and Countryside of Taktwinkel, which was unable to establish an effective form of government outside Stadt Taktwinkel, and which saw the almost equally large Stadt Sankt Rosa demand an equal or greater position. The Confoederatio Aemilia is geographically divided among the southeast of Cibola, the south of Apollonia and an island south of Corum.
Prior to 1739, the Confoederatio Aemilia was an association of small states, forming a confederation, after a constitutional reform the country became a federation, following an act of the Aemilian Senate. After the Treaty of Sankt Rosa, the jurisdiction of Walstadt and Light was added, which maintained its own princess.
The Confoederatio Aemilia is divided into several jurisdictiones (Problematic, Istvanistani translation: jurisdictions), these are:
- Taktwinkel, since 1723, on Cibola
- Murder, since 1723, south of Corum
- Sankt Rosa, since 1724, on Cibola
- El Dorado, since 1729, on Cibola
- Aemilian Alrig, since 1731, on Apollonia,
- Rossmark, since 1733, on Cibola
- Land Weisenburg, since 1741, on Cibola
- Walstadt and Light, since 1743, on Cibola
The Confoederatio Aemilia is a liberal democratic principality, and while the association is formally comprised of states that have a right to their own sovereignty, they all share the same laws. As part of the articles of association, the states abided by all legislation passed by the Aemilian Senate making the association function as a unitary state in practice.
While part of PRIMA, a cooperation effort with the United Kingdom of Meckelnburgh, the nation maintained a policy of neutrality. The cooperation with Meckelnburgh was focused on working together on production and intelligence, so that both nations can better defend themselves, not to pursue a further common agenda.
Religion
The Confoederatio Aemilia is a pagan nation, harking back to the pre-Nazarene traditions of southern Cibola. South Cibolan Witchcraft is recognised as the official religion of the realm and the Aemilian Senate will take auspices according to ancient rituals before making important decisions.
Freedom of religion is recognised, although this is not unlimited, religious sects need to adhere to the norms and values of the federation. For example, Nazarene sects were ordered to remove praise of misogyny, homophobia, racism and genocide from their Holy Scripture, if they wanted to keep printing and distributing it in the federation, the resulting translation is called the Prinsessenvertaling.
