According to archaeological findings and oral histories, these gardens were established thousands of years ago to mark the successful crossing from Benacia. The settlers specifically chose gardenia plants not only for their beauty and fragrance but also because the flowers had shown remarkable resilience during their maritime journey. The twin gardens, one containing white gardenias and the other featuring the rarer yellow variant, were cultivated as sacred spaces that served both ceremonial and practical purposes.
