Natopian constitutional referendum of 1717 was a national referendum held in the Bovic Empire of the Natopian Nation to decide on the constitutional changes proposed for the reunification of Eastern Natopia and Western Natopia, as presented by the Imperial Proclamation of Unity. The voting was conducted over a period of three days, from 2.XIV.1717 AN to 4.XIV.1717 AN, to allow remote and rural areas of the Empire to participate. The turnout was exceptionally high, with approximately 90% of all registered voters casting their ballots.

Background

The referendum was the culmination of the reintegration process, started after the death of Nathan III and the coronation of Empress Vadoma I. A major milestone in this reintegration process was the formation of a unified cabinet by Chancellor Arjuna Dhritarashtra in both Western Natopia and Eastern Natopia, signaling an imminent reunification. The Imperial Proclamation of Unity provided for the reunification of Natopia, proposing a new draft Constitution that was soon approved by the Frenzy of Eastern Natopia and later that of Western Natopia. Subsequently, it was decided that a national referendum would be held to ratify the changes and put Natopian reintegration to the voters.

Turnout

The total number of registered voters was 513,234,987. The turnout for the referendum was close to 90%, making it one of the most participated elections in the history of Natopia.

Method

The referendum used a simple majority system, where "Yes" or "No" votes were cast for accepting or rejecting the constitutional changes proposed. Ballots were distributed in multiple languages to accommodate the diverse population of Natopia.
