The Declaration of Blythe was a formal statement issued by Empress Vadoma I of Natopia in 1723 AN, asserting that the Florian Free State is an integral part of Natopia and that it will not be ceded or given back to Floria. This declaration was made a few days after the 70th anniversary of the War of Lost Brothers and was a response to a series of statements made by Floria's President regarding the concept of "Greater Floria" in the ongoing Floria-Natopia diplomatic conflict.

Background

War of Lost Brothers

The War of Lost Brothers was a significant conflict that involved Natopia, Shireroth, Jingdao, Floria, and other neighboring states. (Details about the war and what happened go here.) The war led to a shift in territorial boundaries, with Jingdao and Natopia gaining control over territories previously governed by Floria. Among these territories was the Florian Free State, which became part of Natopia.

Western Natopia

During the division of the Natopian Empire in 1707 AN, the Florian Free State and Saint Andre were reorganized into a single entity: Saint Andre, or as it is locall known, Saint Andre of Apollonia.

Greater Floria Concept

In the lead-up to the 70th anniversary of the War of Lost Brothers, Floria's President Isabelle Chopin issued a tweet promoting the idea of "Greater Floria." This concept encompassed a belief that all past Florian territory lost to Jingdao, now part of Shireroth, and Natopia during the war should be returned to Floria. The statements sparked debates and tensions, culminating in the Declaration of Blythe.

The Declaration

The Declaration of Blythe was issued by Empress Vadoma I of Natopia, and its main content reaffirmed the sovereignty of Natopia over the Florian Free State, now part of Saint Andre. The text clearly states that the territory is an indivisible part of Natopia and ruled out any possibility of ceding or giving it back to Floria in the near future.

Reactions and Impact

Domestic Reactions

The declaration was met with mixed reactions within Natopia. Supporters praised the firm stance taken by the Empress, while critics argued that it could exacerbate tensions with Floria.
