The 1719 Normark coup d'état saw the removal from power of the King of Normark, Tarjei Thorgilsson, whose mismanagement had seen the attempted liberation of Dalen turn into a counteroffensive by the disinherited which threatened to see Knotaric installed on the throne. To forestall this outcome, and the disastrous implications it would have for the Raspur Pact, Fredrik Michael Tarjeisson was permitted to return to Elijah's Rest as part of the Benacian Expeditionary Force in Normark, whereupon he swiftly worked to arrange the departure of his dissolute father for exile in Los Bananos.
Aftermath
Immediately upon securing Elijah's Rest, the Committee for National Salvation signalled as its first act, its continued adherence to the Raspur Pact as well as the treaty between Normark and Nouvelle Alexandrie and the treaty with the Kingdom of Moorland. A further treaty, on similar terms to the aforementioned, would be signed with the Benacian Union within days.
