Administration of Chancellor Emmanuel Aristarchus

The administration of Chancellor Emmanuel Aristarchus (1742 AN–1745 AN) was the executive branch of the Natopian government during the chancellorship of Emmanuel Aristarchus of the Free Juice and Bagels Party (FBJP). Aristarchus assumed office following the 1742 snap elections, in which the FBJP won an upset outright majority on a "Natopia First" platform that questioned overseas commitments and criticized what Aristarchus termed "elite" trade deals. Zephrya Bottlebrush served as Vice-Chancellor throughout the administration.
The Aristarchus years were marked by a dramatic reorientation of Natopian foreign and domestic policy under the Chancellor's "New Direction" agenda. The administration negotiated the Treaty of Sankt Rosa with the Confoederatio Aemilia, resulting in the controversial withdrawal from Whales completed in IV.1744 AN. Aristarchus also settled the centuries-old constitutional ambiguity regarding Universalis through the Universal Compact, which formalized the demesne's autonomous status and transferred Sororiya to its jurisdiction. The administration's isolationist response to the 1744 Oportian coup d'état and the emerging Oportian crisis drew public criticism from Empress Vadoma I and strained Natopia's relationships within the Raspur Pact. Aristarchus won re-election in the 1744 elections with a reduced majority, but the administration collapsed in 1745 AN following a vote of no confidence triggered by continued inaction on the Oportian situation. Aristarchus was succeeded by Isabella Betancourt, who formed a coalition government with the Nationalist and Humanist Party.
