Gerenian settlement
The Gerenian settlement in Northern Apollonia was the historical process that ended with the foundation of the Republic of Gerenia. The settlement ocurred between 2012 and 2013.
Origin of the Gerenian People

The Gerenian People is composed of eleven ethnic groups or "races" with common roots in a planet known as Meeredres. Meeredres has three continents, of which only one is inhabited, whilst another one is regarded as "forbidden", and the other one periodically submerges into the ocean.
In Meeredres, the groups lived in an unified nation with a central government and a shared culture, although each of the groups enjoyed a considerable degree of autonomy.
Prelude to the migration
The Gerenians learned about Micras in early 2012. The information came to the government's notice, and in April it was formalised a proposal of the foundation of a colony in Micras. The entire government, as well as the general public, liked the idea, and the "Colonies' Act" was written and passed in less than two weeks. Within that time, a secret commission appointed by the Parliament began investigating about Micras, eventually discovering that it is accesible from Meeredres via a portal. Once the Act was passed, a Colonies' Commission was formed. The Colonies' Commission was tasked with gathering materials needed to build the infrastructure of the colony and the cities where the first settlers would live in. At the same time, the government designed and launched a volunteer recruiting program. The program had two main objectives: to form a legion of "pioneers", who were going to build the cities, and to organise the migration of the majority of the colonists.
Location of the colony
Based on the information provided by the secret commission, the government decided to found the colony in southern Apollonia, on the shores of North Raynor Sea. The name given to the colony was "New Calarma", due to the resemblance between the geography of the region to be claimed and that of the Meeredrian republic of Calarma: a land with a mountainous north, a flat south, warm climate and situated next to the sea.
Nevertheless, before the migration could start, and the appropriate claim sent to the MCS, the land was assigned to Flanders. A new decision regarding the location of New Calarma was made, with a 500,000 km2 territory in Northern Apollonia next to Tallandor Bay being chosen as new home for the Gerenians. Gerald Ruze was appointed as head of the colony.
The Operation Exodus
The Operation Exodus was the main part of the migration program. It began in June 2012, when the first pioneers were sent to Micras. By 8 July, when New Calarma was officially founded, a total of 200,000 pioneers were working in the colony, and roughly 1,200,000 people in Meeredres had their applications accepted to move to Micras. The population of New Calarma at the beginning of August was estimated in 2,250,000. This number would increase to 4,000,000 by the end of the year.
People travelled to Micras through portals. The first one allowed them to travel to Port Isherwood, the first city founded by the colonists. Two more portals were opened soon after: one in eastern Barzat (in an undisclosed location), and another one near Tawlkar.
The application process was not very strict. The only main requirements that the applicants had to meet was not having been convicted, and not suffering from mental or terminal diseases. Applications from entire families were reviewed with preference over those of individual applicants. If an application was approved, the government determined the city of residence of the colonists. In case of adult people, the government also reserved the right to decide where they were going to work.
Migratory routes
Three main migratory routes can be differentiated: northern, eastern, and southern.
- Northern route: people arrived at Port Isherwood (today Port Elerat), and some of them travelled either to Maremedres, West, or Ramez and Clements via the Maiŷnat. Main settlements founded are: Clementsgrad, Ramez City, Mergeazes, and Baraŷa.
- Eastern route: people arrived at east Barzat and travelled to the rest of the province, and to Sängeran. Main settlements founded are: Taizun and Gentóul.
- Southern route: people arrived at Tawlkar and travelled to the rest of Adarma, and to West and Sängeran. Main settlements founded are: Gerze, Tániz, and Sper.
