The Islamic Republic of New Batavia is the successor state of the Virtual United Provinces, the Republic of the Netherlands and the Islamic Internet Republic. The nation was founded in 2007 and became involved in the Micras sector in 2009.

First claim (2009)

Claiming land on Micras was an important position of the leading party Fresxa Komenci under the administration of prime minister Nihill Romez. The nation originally claimed under the name "Republiek der Nederlanden". This claim was accepted on September 21, 2009. The claim was made by then Minister of Finance Max one day before. On June 24, 2011 the name was changed to "Islamitische Internetrepubliek" at the request of Frans following the Islamic revolution.

The IRP-lead government went into exile on July 4, 2011. The claim on Micras was forcably removed on December 1, 2011.

Restoration (2020)

The Government-in-Exile reclaimed the island of New Batavia in order to resettle and restore the Third Republic and regroup the exiles. The claim was accepted on October 31, 2020.

There was some criticism from the MCS board before acceptance of the claim, mainly on the name of the nation. It was felt by some MCS members that there were too many real world references and that the nation was not "Micras" enough. Frans stressed he did not want to found an entirely new nation, but "really really" wanted a legal and historical link with the old IIR. The proposed constitution of the Fourth Republic met some of the criticism.

Expansion (2020)

After the restoration a new claim was made to resettle lands on the continent of Corum. This claim was accepted on December 1, 2020. The nation's name was also changed to Islamic Republic of New Batavia.

Expansion (2021)

Descendants of former IIR citizens living in The Green in Southern Corum, demanded expansion and citizenship rights and organized several Marches on Broekszaal. The New Batavian govenment claimed new territory on June 5, 2021. The claim was accepted on June 9, 2021. All residents of the new areas were automatically granted citizenship and existing towns and cities are to be recognized as per the Act power of attorney expansion 2021.

Secession (2021)

After the 2021 New Batavian secession referendum, two governorates seceded to form the Sultanate of Kurum Ash-Sharqia. The modification of the claim was accepted on September 16, 2021.

Expansion (2023)

Land and islands to the south of New Batavia were vacated by Hazar in November 2022. These lands were claimed by New Batavia on July 31, 2023. In the same claim, the strip of land to the north, containing the ruings of Brugge was reclaimed. The claim was accepted on August 5, 2023.
