| Kendall Khanate (Arboric: كيندال خانات; Hasani: كندال خانلغی) is a riyasat (princely state) of Çakaristan, located on the Kendall Isle. It is surrounded by the Antican Sea, Herrin Bay and the Pond Strait. To the north, it is separated by the Strait of Monemici from the Emirate of Barikalus. To the south, it is separated from Sylfystan by the Jaris Strait. It shares a land border with the New Alexandrian colony of Ijubicastagrad. | ||
== History == | |||
The first settlement on Kendall Isle is recorded as Jaris, a nation politically linked to the Jacobite Empire of Cognito and Lac Glacei. During the Tymarian Era (1461 - 1472 AN), a series of political wheelings and dealings ended up with Jaris becoming a Duchy of Shireroth, under its former leader Duke Joe Whittaberg. Its capital, Philban, was (believe it or not) named after the late Regis Philbin from the Regis and Kathy Lee Show.
The island was the center of the Jaris War between Shireroth and the Grand Commonwealth, but no land actually changed hands as a consequence of the hostilities. It finally left Shirerithian control during that empire's de-expansion phase in 1515 AN, and was annexed by the Republic of Antica. In 1531 AN, Antica was reduced, leaving only the western part of the island under its flag. The eastern part became Novatainia, on the south coast, a overseas territory of Alexandria. Novatainia was one of the founding members of the union that formed the Gralan Empire. In 1597 AN, Antica disappeared from the map and the former region of Albion became part of the Elwynn|Elwynnese Union. This was short-lived, however, because in 1600 Elwynn was incorporated into Shireroth and Albion was abandoned. Between 1607 and 1610 AN, that part became part of the Holy Empire of Jingdao at Sea. In 1615 AN, Gralus was reduced and the northern part of Kendall Isle also fell into The Green. Between 1627 and 1631 AN, strategic points on the west coast were occupied by the Holy Grand Empire of Jingdao.
In 1650 AN, the eastern half became the Constancian Thema Oranjēsiōn. While the western part became part of the Khanate of Nedland, which later became the Khanate of Krasnarus. The south coast also came under the flag of this Khanate since the fall of Alexandria. In 1661 AN, the khanate merged with the Kingdom of Coria to form the Kingdom of Krasnocoria. In 1665 AN, Thema Oranjēsiōn was dissolved and completely evacuated.
In 1687 AN, Nouvelle Alexandrie claimed a strip on the south-west coast and founded the city of Ijubicastagrad. In 1689 and 1690 AN, Çakaristan claimed the remaining part of the island. This was incorporated into the state of Kendall Khanate, first known as Jabal al-Mada'.

The incorporation of Kendall Isle was led by Amir Çakar through the Mission: Tariqat al-Wird'. He was appointed khan when the state was formed, which comprised the Çakari part of the island and several coastal islands. Until 1722 AN, the state was called Khanate of Jabal al-Mada, after the highest mountain on the island, Jabal al-Mada' (dawn-lit mountain). As most of the island was uninhabited, settlement was encouraged and new cities were built.
History
Çakari era
The incorporation of Kendall Isle was led by Amir Çakar through the Mission: Tariqat al-Wird'. He was appointed khan when the state was formed, which comprised the Çakari part of the island and several coastal islands. Until 1722 AN, the state was called Khanate of Jabal al-Mada', after the highest mountain on the island, Jabal al-Mada' (dawn-lit mountain). During the Arboric Civil War, the state had to deal with a large number of refugees from Barikalus. They were generously welcomed and spread across almost the entire state. When the war was over, only some of them returned to Barikalus. They were not granted citizenship. This proved to be a problem in many areas, such as housing, education and employment. However, the issue more or less resolved itself when Barikalus was incorporated into the Çakar Empire. The Arborish thus became citizens.
