The County of Camoleo is a Shirerithian county of Jinkeai, carved out from the Duchy of Qyzylqaystan upon the dissolution of the duchy and the cession of most of the former duchy's territory to Çakaristan in 1711. The county is headed by Xuan of the Golden Tribe, Count of Camoleo, the former Duke of Qyzylqaystan.

The county marks Shireroth's northernmost extent on the Apollonian continent. Located on the eastern bank of the mouth of the Camoleo River, it is situated across from Senya's Port Nelson. In the east of the county, it borders Kyazilkaistan ("Qyzylqaystan" in Çakari spelling). To the south, the county is connected to the rest of Shirerithian Apollonia by its border to Dongjin.

The territory of Camoleo consists of the territorial remnants of Qyzylqaystan, a region that defied the Treaty of Gaelen's Landing in 1707 AN and chose to remain loyal to the Shirerithian throne (or was threatened into remaining loyal by the nearby Jinkeai garrisons, due to its strategic location).

History

The Jingdaoese 17th century

The history of Camoleo dates back to the days of Jingdaoese east- and northwards expansion during the 17th century, when their empire sought to extend its boundaries beyond the original Kildarian territories of Shireroth. As the Shirerithian armies ventured further afield, they encountered various tribes and nations, some of whom resisted integration into the empire. One such tribe was the Qyzyl, a fierce and proud people who lived. Despite their initial reluctance, the Qyzyl eventually agreed to swear fealty to the Jingdaoese throne, becoming one of the most important tribes to do so.

Over time, the Qyzyl proved themselves to be valuable subjects of the empire, contributing significantly to its growth and prosperity. They were skilled warriors, adept at fighting in the rugged terrain of Central Apollonia, and their knowledge of the land made them valuable allies in the region. As a result, the Jingdaoese government saw fit to grant them a measure of autonomy, allowing them to maintain their traditional way of life while still acknowledging the authority of the Heavenly Throne.

However, not all Qyzyl were content with this arrangement. Some felt that their cultural identity was threatened by the encroachment of Jingdaoese influences, and they longed for greater freedom from the empire's grasp. These sentiments first culminated in the establishment of the Qyzyl People's Republic in 1704 AN during the Second Kildarian Revolution. With the fall of its parent nation and overlord, the Democratic Apollonian Republic of Kildare, in 1707 AN, new Qyzylqaystani rebellions broke out, shortly after the signing of the Treaty of Gaelen's Landing. Attempts to brutally suppress the rebellion by the newly-established Shirerithian authorities in the region failed. An evacuation of thousands of loyalists was organised, towards the Camoleo River area.
