The County Palatine of Draconia is a territory of the Imperial Republic of Shireroth, created by the Treaty of Andamouth, to secure the surrender of John Hilding Waffel-Paine in the aftermath of the Dissident Movement in Drak-Modan and the 1699 Drak-Modani attempted coup d'état. The majority of the Drak-Modani state was reabsorbed into Shireroth and returned to traditional Modani policies and customs. The Draconian county, however, would continue to be a haven and refuge for Draconians and their allies, albeit under the watchful eye of the Golden Mango Throne.
Draconia was first established as a semi-autonomous region established within Drak-Modan in 1682 during a period of republican government. The residents of the island of Nel Modan invited deposed King of Drak-Modan, John Hilding Waffel-Paine to take the title King of the Draconians and to re-establish a homeland for the Draconian diaspora.
Since 1699, the county palatine has shifted its policies away from violently enforcing Draconian supremacy to promoting Draconian supremacy peacefully.
