The Çakari Ice Hockey Federation (CIHF) is the governing body of ice hockey in Çakaristan. Founded in 2026, the federation is responsible for the administration and development of the sport throughout the empire and represents Çakaristan within the Micras Hockey League (MHL).

The federation administers the men's national team, commonly known as the Ice Falcons, as well as the women's national team. It is additionally responsible for domestic competitions, youth development, player registration, coaching standards and the training and appointment of referees.

Although formally responsible for ice hockey throughout Çakaristan, the CIHF's activities are concentrated heavily in Bulqan, the western parts of the Kendall Khanate and Rečnozemlja. These territories were formerly part of Krasnocoria and retained a substantial ice hockey culture following its dissolution.

History

The Çakari Ice Hockey Federation was established in 2026 following renewed efforts to organise the ice hockey traditions inherited from former Krasnocoria into a unified Çakari structure.

Prior to the foundation of the CIHF, organised ice hockey in the territories concerned had developed largely independently. Clubs in Bulqan, western Kendall Khanate and Rečnozemlja continued to play the sport after their incorporation into Çakaristan, but there was initially no empire-wide governing body.

The strongest institutional continuity existed in Bulqan, which inherited much of the sporting infrastructure and player base of the former Krasnocorian territories. Bhavybai subsequently emerged as the administrative centre of Çakari ice hockey.

The increasing cooperation between clubs in Bulqan, Kendall Khanate and Rečnozemlja eventually led to the creation of a single national federation. The CIHF was charged with integrating the various regional hockey structures while preserving the strong local character of the sport.

In the same year, the federation became a member of the Micras Hockey League, allowing Çakaristan to establish its own national representative programme.

While the CIHF considers the Krasnocorian hockey tradition an important part of its history, it does not claim the international record or honours of the former Krasnocoria national ice hockey team. Çakaristan and Krasnocoria are consequently treated as separate MHL members.

Organisation

The headquarters of the federation are located at the Ranković Ice Palace in Bhavybai, Bulqan.

The location reflects Bulqan's position as the principal centre of ice hockey in Çakaristan. The Ranković Ice Palace also serves as the main home venue and training centre of the national teams.

The federation is headed by a president and an executive committee. Representation on the executive committee is traditionally divided between the principal hockey regions of the empire in order to prevent the federation becoming exclusively dominated by Bulqan.

The three principal regional structures recognised by the CIHF are:

  • Bulqan – the largest and most developed ice hockey region and the centre of the majority of professional and elite-level clubs;
  • Western Kendall Khanate – the second major historical centre of the sport;
  • Rečnozemlja – a smaller but established hockey region with roots in the Krasnocorian period.

The federation is authorised to recognise additional regional associations if organised ice hockey develops elsewhere in Çakaristan.

National teams

Men's team

The CIHF administers the Çakaristan men's national ice hockey team, nicknamed the Ice Falcons.

The team was formed largely from players developed by clubs in the former Krasnocorian territories. Its home matches are principally played at the Ranković Ice Palace in Bhavybai.

The men's programme retains a particularly strong connection with the former Krasnocoria national ice hockey team. This relationship has resulted in the Çakari side occasionally being jokingly described as the "Krasnocorian team in Çakari colours".

Despite this cultural continuity, the CIHF regards the Çakari team as a separate sporting entity and does not claim Krasnocoria's results or honours.

Women's team

The CIHF also administers the Çakaristan women's national ice hockey team.

The women's programme was established as part of the federation's commitment to developing both men's and women's ice hockey. Like the men's game, its initial player base is concentrated primarily in Bulqan, western Kendall Khanate and Rečnozemlja.

The federation considers the development of women's ice hockey one of its principal long-term objectives and has encouraged its affiliated clubs to establish women's and girls' sections alongside their men's teams.

Youth teams

The CIHF oversees the development of Çakari youth representative teams and regional development squads.

Youth programmes are principally organised through affiliated clubs, with national development camps held periodically at the Ranković Ice Palace. The federation has placed particular emphasis on increasing participation outside Bhavybai in order to broaden the national player pool.

Youth development programmes are open throughout the empire, although participation remains considerably higher in the three traditional hockey regions.

Domestic ice hockey

The CIHF is responsible for the regulation of organised domestic ice hockey in Çakaristan.

The principal clubs associated with the federation include:

The majority of elite players are developed in Bulqan, although clubs in Kendall Khanate and Rečnozemlja provide an increasingly important part of the national player pool.

The federation organises and sanctions national competitions between its affiliated clubs and is responsible for maintaining common playing, registration and disciplinary regulations.

Regional character

Unlike football and cricket, which have nationwide popularity in Çakaristan, ice hockey remains strongly regional.

Its geographic distribution largely corresponds with territories formerly belonging to Krasnocoria. The CIHF therefore occupies an unusual position among Çakari national sporting organisations: it represents the entire empire internationally while the overwhelming majority of its players, clubs and supporters originate in only three regions.

This regional character is not unique to ice hockey. Tug of war also has a geographically concentrated following within Çakaristan.

The CIHF has generally avoided attempting to artificially transform ice hockey into a nationwide mass sport. Instead, its development policy focuses on strengthening established hockey regions while supporting the formation of clubs elsewhere where sufficient local interest exists.

Relationship with Krasnocoria

The CIHF recognises the former Krasnocorian ice hockey programme as the historical predecessor of organised ice hockey in much of modern Çakaristan.

Clubs, coaches, officials and supporters formerly associated with Krasnocorian hockey played a major role in the creation of the federation. Elements of Krasnocorian supporter culture and hockey terminology have consequently remained in use.

However, the CIHF is legally and statistically a separate organisation. It does not claim:

  • matches played by the Krasnocoria national ice hockey team;
  • historical Krasnocorian MHL rankings;
  • Krasnocorian player appearances as Çakari appearances; or
  • the 2019 MHL World Championships 'C' Conference championship won by Krasnocoria.

The distinction allows the CIHF to acknowledge its sporting ancestry while developing a separate Çakari ice hockey identity.

Development

The federation's development policy is based around four principal areas:

  • expansion of youth ice hockey;
  • development of women's ice hockey;
  • improvement of coaching and officiating standards;
  • gradual expansion of organised hockey outside its traditional regional heartlands.

Women's and youth development have received particular attention, as the CIHF considers these programmes essential to ensuring a sustainable domestic player base.

The federation also encourages existing clubs to operate multiple age categories rather than concentrating exclusively on senior men's teams.

Facilities

The principal national ice hockey facility is the Ranković Ice Palace in Bhavybai.

With a capacity of 16,500, the arena serves as:

  • headquarters of the Çakari Ice Hockey Federation;
  • primary home arena of the men's national team;
  • a principal venue for the women's national team;
  • national training centre;
  • venue for major domestic matches; and
  • host of national youth camps and tournaments.

Smaller ice facilities are operated by clubs and regional authorities elsewhere in Bulqan, western Kendall Khanate and Rečnozemlja.
