The 1741 Shirerithian general elections are the upcoming elections in 1741 AN for the Adelsraad and Folksraad. They are the first since the end of the Shiro-Benacian War and reallowed the participation of political parties.
They took place during the entirety of the eighth month of 1741.
The newly acquired territories from the Benacian Union will not hold elections right now. Rather, by-elections will be held once civil government is in place and a census has been taken.
Contesting Parties
For the first time since the start of the Shiro-Benacian War, the streets of Shirekeep were once more dominated by posters and billboards of contesting political parties.
Participating parties in the elections of 1741 AN were:
The Imperial Democratic Party (IDP) returned to the political arena with the goal of pushing for democratisation of Shirerithian society. While it had played an important role in fighting the most radical elements during the Mango Anarchy, its connection with the Imperial Democrats of Ransenar cost them in popularity due to friction among the populace for the loss of Guttuli during the Shiro-Benacian War.
The Republican Imperial Coalition (RIC) united moderate conservatives and reactionaries who formerly voted for the Throne Loyalists and Mango-Strenghtening Movement.
The Reform Society sought to protect gains made during the Anarchy which benefitted the commoners. Seen by some as radical, but relative harmless and moderate.
H'graasreign Party, a Cedrist party accused of being fundamentalist, far-right and fascist.

Aftermath and government formation
Immediately after the elections, the Republican Imperial Coalition vetoed any coalitions with the Vanguard and the H'graasreign. It invited the Ultra-Royalist and Conservative Monarchist parties of Batavia to preliminary negotiations. The Ultra-Royalists left these negotiations when the Reform Society was invited too.
On 16.IX.1741, a coalition agreement was formalized between:
Republican Imperial Coalition
Reform Society
Conservative Monarchist Party of Batavia
National Development Party of Talenore

The same day, the proposal for nominating Shen Suyi as Steward was laid before the two lower Raads. The Folksraad approved the motion with 667 votes in favour and 271 votes against, and eighteen abstentions (from the Ultra-Royalists of Batavia and from the Conservative Party of Talenore). The Adelsraad also approved it, with 104 votes in favour, 42 votes against, and 1 abstention. The Landsraad then approved the election by acclamation. On 20.IX.1741, the Kaiser formally appointedShen Suyi to the position.
