Kingdom of Kunapura (KOK; Kunapura; Kunapura Kingdom; (Common Tongue: Kingdom of Kunapura), (Eeshan: குனபுரா இராச்சியம் Kuṉapurā irācciyam), (Phinbellan: Kerajaan Kunapura), (Sangunese: クンダプラ王国 Kundapura ōkoku), (Taesongean: 쿠나 푸라 왕국 kuna pula wang-gug) (Jingdaoese: 库纳普拉王国 Kù nà pǔ lā wángguó ) is a constitutional monarchy city state island nation of west of Keltia. Formerly an independent city-state under the auspices of Phinbella, the region was peacefully annexed by The Hexarchy in the late 1690's AN to become an autonomously governed region, with the transfer of sovereignty to Hexarchian rule completed on New Year's Day of 1700 AN.
The nation's population as of 1730 AN represented a massive demographic shift from 35 years prior, when Eeshan people formed the majority of the city-state's population. With a massive influx of people from The Hexarchy after the annexation and the transfer of power to that country, emigration to and from the polity and the extension of its borders within the Hexarchy caused a large demographic shift. In 1730 AN, the population was 5,132,936, of which approximately 33% are Hexarchians of various tribes/nationalities, 27% are Eeshan, %15 are Sanpanese, %10 are Phineaner, %10 are Jingdaoese, and 5% hail from other backgrounds. Since the nation is a city-state, the capital is the same as the country's name. For most of the polity's 120-year-history, the Eeshan peoples remained the majority ruler of the nation, dominating government and politics until the early 1700's AN, as demographics began to change and the city increasingly integrated into the Hexarchy. The city consists of a small piece of the Keltian mainland (since 1715 AN), with the so-called "Old City" located entirely on a group of islands: South Tepen Islands (containing the city's largest airport) are located in the south, Tolum Pass is located in the west, Kumbakonan Islands and Semhapuran Lagoon are the largest islands in the east, and some river islands and Salam Lake in the north make up the remainder of the smaller island groups there. In the north of the nation are small Eeshan states on the coastal islands and what small inland areas that made up the old city-state.
The nation experienced rapid development, with this continuing post-annexation. Development accelerated past 1715 AN with the inclusion of some mainland territories, spurring the island city's industry, while at the same time driving the region's demographic shift in favor of its much larger neighbor in the Hexarchy. The city matches Kobol in its advancement, having developed into one of The Hexarchy's most highly industrialized places. Due to the city's booming economy and population, it is the most expensive area for expats to live in on Micras. 32 percent of the nation has been reclaimed, even accounting for the 1715 AN expansion granted by the central government by the hand of Praetor Gilgamesh II. Given the island's very high autonomy and good reputation among the larger nations of Micras, trade is well developed independently from the rest of the Hexarchy, going so far as to have portions of its own visa policy. In addition, the country is equipped with buildings with interesting architecture. The country is also famous for its unusual bans in the name of keeping harmony, cleanliness, and order on the otherwise crowded streets.

Economy
This article or section is a work in progress. The information below may be incomplete, outdated, or subject to change. |
Kunapura is a city-state, relying on financial and service industries to maintain its high levels of wealth, in addition to hydrocarbon deposits discovered off its shores in the 1720's AN. The high level of wealth concentrated in the city produces a very high per-capita and median wealth in the city's people (especially those on the islands). Due to high levels of income and spending on social infrastructure, the level of welfare directed to citizens of the city-state is high. This has attracted great numbers of those from abroad, particularly from The Hexarchy post-annexation. This has led to the introduction of special internal controls within the city designed to limit welfare spending to long-term Hexarchy-origin residents and Kunapura citizens, with additional subsidies from Marduk to compensate for the added expenses of integrating this large new population into its rapidly growing economy. Due to the city's many natural deep-water harbors, there are several internationally important ports in the country and it is a stopover point for many ships due to its strategic location and history of political neutrality. In addition, the country attaches importance to armament, the strategy of the nation being to market weapons to friendly countries, relying on its allies for defense. This trend continued post-annexation, with the Hexarchy itself becoming its largest customer. The largest percentage in the country belongs to industry. Service sector comes second, and agriculture comes third. There was scarcely any agricultural land in the country before the 1715 expansion, and even now the majority of the country's agricultural products are imported from abroad, making food products very expensive in the country.
