2017 FMF World Cup qualification

The FMF World Cup (occasionally called the Micras World Cup) is the highest level of international association football competition organised by the FMF, the governing body of the sport on Micras.

The tournament was initially played once a year, being competed for by sixteen qualified nations, but will be held biennially and contested between twenty teams from 2015. The tournament was first held in 2006, with the nations competing having applied successfully to be included. There have been ten tournaments so far, with six different nations having won the title.

Qualification

Each of the four FMF confederations organise qualification rounds in order to narrow-down their affiliated nations to fit the quota that each confederation has received of places at the finals. The tournament's host(s) and the previous year's winning nation are awarded automatic places at that year's championships.

Squads

Main article: FMF World Cup squads

All competing nations for each tournament are required to name a squad of players. Since the first World Cup, there have been changes in the squads' restrictions, such as an increase in the amount of players permitted to be included. From 2011, teams must name a squad of twenty-three players, three of whom must be goalkeepers, numbered 1 to 23.
