The Social Democrats are a centre-left political party in Craitland. It has historically been the most popular of the five major parties in Craitland, recording both the largest electoral percentage and largest number of votes at different points in its history, and has supplied a record eight of the nation's 18 Prime Ministers so far.

Ideology

The party champions social democracy as its overwhelming ideology, supporting the mixed economy which has generally presided in Craitland throughout its history. The party's military stance has varied; while primarily neutral, it established the Craitish Defence Force and generated Craitland's membership in the USSO, but officially maintains a diplomatic foreign policy favouring non-interventionism.

The logo of the Social Democrats is a stylised Pelle rose; the national flower of—and endemic species to—Craitland. The rose is also a traditional symbol of the social democracy movement. The party's official colour is a crimson red, but white is often also prominent on campaign materials.

Social Democrats abroad

The Social Democrats also previously entered candidates to ballots in the former Craitish autonomous territories of Lakkvia and New Vaduz.

In Lakkvia, the party had a stable representation of 2–4 representatives in the Parliament of Lakkvia from 1606 until 1691. Following the Lakkvian merger with Hurmu, the Social Democrats changed their name to the Social Democratic Party of the Lake District, failing to win representation in the Assembly of Representatives for the Lake District until 1707. It then merged with the Social Democratic Party of Lontinien and Rekozemlje, the Democratic Party of the Warring Islands and Democratic Party of Transprinitica to form the Social and Democratic Party of Hurmu.
