Incontinentia (Craitish: Incóntinentija, Incontinentian: Инцоняитанцха; Intsonyaitantskha) was a dominion located in southern Keltia. While a dominion of the Kingdom of Craitland, the peninsula exercised autonomy similar to other Craitish overseas territories, having its own political structure and economic policies. Sharing its eastern border with Gran Verionia, Incontinentia was known for its rapid development in high-rise building and became one of the more densely populated areas in the region. In its early life, the territory formed an integral part of the Craitish economy, contributing to 70% of the Kingdom's economic activity at its peak though this dropped significantly later on.

History

Geographical history

Prior to the successful claiming of the tip of the peninsula by Craitland for Incontinentia in March 2007, the land was claimed by four other nations throughout Micras' history. Between the land's first appearance on the claimsmap (version 2.0.0) and version 4.8.0, the land belonged to the Kingdom of Interland, falling under its subdivision of Neu Hannover and containing the small coastal city of Frankfurt. From version 5.0.0 until version 6.2.0, Interland was annexed into Attera, with Frankfurt Neu Hannover and being maintained in and around the future Incontinentia, respectively.

The land went unclaimed until version 6.5.0, when it came under the control of Madland. The Incontinentian land saw the city of Frankfurt repopulated, while the peninsula's extremity was governed under the division of Gradlia. Madland's claims on the land were sustained until version 6.7.1—sometime in 2004—before being replaced by those of Charlotta in version 6.7.3 later in the year. The expansive subdivision of Landaluze administered the land under Charlottan rule, though no nearby cities were labelled. Charlotta's claims were held for some considerable time, with the nation's removal finally coming in August 2006 after map version 8.0.2c; the last map published before Craitland's admission to the MCS.

From September 2006's version 9.0.0 until February 2007's version 10.1.0, the land remained unclaimed before being claimed by Craitland on version 10.2.0, with Incontinentia accepted as the nation's first ever expansion.

Incontinentian history

Outside of Micras, Incontinentia's political and cultural history can be traced back to early 2003. Incontinentia was originally founded as a personal project of a secondary school classmate of Craitman's, designed as a peaceful socialism simulation. While Incontinentia's early history is similar to that of Craitland's, being used as a vehicle for personal diplomacy, this activity was shortly-lived and the project was dormant for a number of years prior to its rejuvenation as a territory of Craitland in early 2007, following the approval of annexation by its founder.

Culture

Due to its varied simulated geographical and real-life political histories, Incontinentia's culture has received a large number of influences. While no explicit culture base was forged during its foundation, Incontinentia's adherence to a socialistic structure ultimately led to an association with Russian culture due to the influence of multiple Russian figureheads on socialist ideologies.

Craitish culture has had a considerable influence on Incontinentia since taking control of the territory, with Ramazan Tarekseev's premiership of the region imparting Turkic aspects from around 2010 onward. Having been bordered by the Alexandrian territory of Valencia for approximately seven years, and continuing to border the Gran Verionian State of Valentia, Incontinentia has also seen Franco-Martino influences.

Since its development as a global financial hub, Incontinentia has been further influenced by the immigration of people from East Asian-themed nations such as Xinguo, Taesong, New South Vietnam, Mailong and Xang Muang.

Demographics

Despite its small land area, Incontinentia is prominent for its demographically diverse population, with approximately 75,000 people living on the peninsula. The Incontinentian population can trace their heritage to other micronations, partially due to the history of the peninsula as well as the opportunities offered in terms of employment and lifestyle in the dominion.

Ethnically, the majority population are Incontinentians, although sizeable populations of Craitish, Valencian among other ethnic groups are widely recognised within the dominion.

The ethnic breakdown of Incontinentians are as reported from the 2013 census:

  • 35,000 - Ethnic Incontinentian
  • 14,000 - Craitish Incontinentian
  • 7,500 - Mixed heritage
  • 4,000 - Martino (Predominantly Valentian)
  • 3,000 - Craitish (expatriates)
  • 3,000 - Chinamese, Mai and NSV heritage
  • 2,000 - Taesongean
