The Elwynnese Workers' Party approached the Democratic Party of Elwynn to discuss a coalition government. At the same time, the Democratic Party negotiated with the Nationalist and Humanist Party on a coalition agreement. The EWP responded that they felt "cheated out", and vowed to lead a constructive patriotic opposition that would cater for the common people of Elwynn.


Once the first session of the Senate met on 17.IV.1681, the Senate elected first [[Anton Trexeller]] (N&H) to President of the Congress in a 167–83 vote against [[Isa Kaliandaron Qor]]. Trexeller then proposed to the Congress in a first, second, and third reading the next three days that ''Congress elect Helena Strand to Conducator of the Elwynnese Republic''. On 21.IV.1681, Strand was elected to the position with 163 votes in favour ([[Democratic Party of Elwynn|DEM]] and [[N&H]]), 82 votes against ([[EWP]], [[APP]], [[MPDS]]) and 5 abstentions ([[Party for Reunification|PR]], [[Union of Truth and Beauty|UTB]]).

The Elwynnese congressional elections in 1681 took place on 8.IV.1681, on the same day as elections were held to the Majles of the Alalehzamini Autonomous Republic and Normark's Nordisketing.
