The Constancian invasion of Oportia is an ongoing military campaign launched by Constancia and the Suren Confederacy in III.1745 AN as part of the broader Fourth Euran War. The invasion began with coordinated attacks along the entire line of contact between Constancian and Oportian forces, featuring combined arms operations involving the 5th (Surenid) Armoured Division crossing into the Central Euran District of Oportia. The campaign has involved extensive aerial warfare, with major air raids targeting key Oportian strongholds including Koufukafe, OMB Libertas near Pax, and Nasimshahr Air Base. The National Salvation Council has responded by implementing "Plan Défense Totale," mobilizing all available defensive forces and establishing underground command networks to coordinate the defense of Oportian territory.

Timeline

Main article: Fourth Euran War
  • III.15: Generalised skirmishing and artillery duels commenced between Constancian and Oportian forces along the entire line of contact. Chargé d'affaires Rolland Briseis at the Imperial Constancian Embassy, Vanie, commissioned a Taxiarchos (Brigadier) of the Imperial Constancian Army, and commander of Imperial Constancian Armed Forces in Oportia (essentially all Constancian nationals resident in-country, who had been called to active duty) just 2 days ago, orders Constancians in Vanie to retreat to the embassy and begin preparations to shelter and defend in place. Constancians elsewhere are ordered to begin guerilla and sabotage operations.
  • III.16: Within a day of the commencement of hostilities, Constancian state television broadcast footage of what it purported to be combat engineering vehicles breaking down a sand berm to permit a column of tanks from the 5th (Surenid) Armoured Division to cross into the Central Euran District of Oportia.
    • The National Salvation Council activates "Plan Défense Totale," ordering immediate mobilization of all National Guard and militia units in the Central Euran District. Fouche authorizes the mining of all major road junctions and bridge approaches along likely Constancian advance routes.
    • President Joseph Fouche orders systematic destruction of all infrastructure, fuel depots, and water sources along predicted Constancian advance routes in the Central Euran District. Chemical dispersal units deploy to contaminate remaining water supplies using specialized equipment from the Department of Internal Security.
    • All 1,000 M1701 158mm MLRS units and 512 Tempest MRLS systems begin coordinated repositioning to pre-surveyed firing positions covering the Surenid breakthrough sector. Counter-battery radar networks activated.
    • Emergency deployment of 200 BK-IV Bastiat armoured guided missile vehicles to establish kill zones along predicted armor advance routes.
  • III.17: First significant Constancian air raid of the war; eight F-17 Axarana, from Omega Moíra of the Imperial Constancian Air Force, and forty-eight F-9 Ashavan III contributed from Epsilon Moíra of the Air Force and the Fleet Air Arm of the Navy, conducted a dawn raid against the Neo-Babkhan fortress city of Koufukafe in the west of Oportia. Heavy resistance was offered from alerted ground-based air defence systems and vectored interceptors. Seventeen Javelin F-19 Greystrikes, assigned to intercept the strike package, were engaged from beyond visual range by the escorting Axaranas, resulted in an exchange of missiles in volleys after which the two formations converged, merging into a high energy dogfight between high performance jets of greatly differing design philosophy. The Constancian Axaranas would swiftly gain the advantage, making use of the "boom and zoom" tactic, at near hypersonic speeds, to force the Oportian Greystrikes to break off from the engagement and dive for lower altitudes before making a run for home.
    • In response to the devastating aerial defeat over Koufukafe, Air Marshal Claude Beaumont implements "Fortress Defense Doctrine," concentrating remaining F-19 Greystrikes and surface-to-air missile batteries around critical targets including Vanie, Port de Huile, and the Alexandrium processing facilities near Kalexisse. Emergency dispersal protocols activated for the remaining tactical air fleet, with aircraft relocated to hardened shelters and improvised airstrips. The NSC authorizes activation of the "Underground Command Network," relocating primary military command functions to the hardened bunker complex beneath the former Alexandrium mines outside Vanie, while establishing a backup command post aboard the flagship ONV Intrepid Dawn in Vanie harbor.
    • Oportia activates Project Underground Thunder: All 185 T-5/A-5 Tejón de Miel close air support aircraft relocated to 23 concealed mountain airstrips and converted Alexandrium mines. Decoy installations established at abandoned airfields.
    • Retaliatory strike launched: 12 Javelin C-16 Thunderhaul and 8 Javelin C-15 Titanhauler strategic airlifters deploy 2,400 special forces personnel behind Constancian lines using high-altitude insertion techniques.
    • Advanced UAV swarm attack: All 166 Javelin M-2 Dragoon armed UAVs coordinate with 95 Javelin M-1 Eternal stealth UAVs for precision strikes against Constancian command centers, communication hubs, and supply depots across a 200-kilometer front.
  • III.18:
    • The Aqaba Banner Air Group, the combat aviation grouping of Aqaba Banner Command, mustered its contingent of strike aircraft for a massed sortie carried out against the Oportian OMB Libertas situated near Pax. Rendering the OMB unusable would remove the lingering threat of Oportian reprisal raids against Aqaba and Petropolis. The strike package would consist of 36x A-7 Astil, 12x F-9 Ashavan III, and a fighter escort of 12x F-24 Lightnings.
    • A further massed air raid upon the Nasimshahr Air Base, with the similar aim of taking it out of commission, was undertaken by the Nivardom Banner Group. The strike package would consist of 48x A-7 Astil escorted by 18x F-24 Lightnings.
    • Following the devastating air raids on OMB Libertas and Nasimshahr Air Base, the NSC implements "Project Underground Thunder," relocating critical air assets to concealed mountain airstrips and converting abandoned Alexandrium mines into hardened aircraft shelters, while activating sleeper cells of the People's Defense Militia of Oportia behind enemy lines.
    • Oportia begins massed artillery bombardment using all available SAI Bigbaddaboom 155 (150 units) and Thunderstrike Advanced Howitzer (185 units) systems target Constancian staging areas identified through Javelin M-1 Eternal reconnaissance.
    • Oportia naval aviation counterattack: 3 Susa-class aircraft carriers (ONV Intrepid Dawn, ONV Sovereign Flame, ONV Liberty's Edge) launch coordinated strikes using embarked aircraft against Constancian naval facilities at Arak and Asterapolis.
    • All 6 Galena-class electronic warfare ships deploy advanced jamming against Constancian communications.
    • Submarine wolf pack operations: 12 additional Franciscania-class submarines form hunter-killer groups targeting Black Banner Fleet supply lines.
    • 5 concealed Javelin B-15 Airspark strategic bombers conduct precision strikes against Constancian fuel depots, ammunition storage facilities, and command bunkers in Petronium and Vey.
  • III.19: Elements of the 504th Army, garrisoned in Petronium (a settlement within the Prosgeiosi Basileus), began probing attacks with light armoured reconnaissance vehicles, supported by attack helicopters, scout rotorcraft, and light attack aircraft of various types, in the direction of Koufukafe.
  • III.22: The Oportians respond to the attack on Nasimshahr by conducting a high risk airdrop of the 2nd Paratrooper Battalion of the Oportian Foreign Legion to reinforce the local garrison.
    • All available carrier aircraft conduct maximum effort strikes against Constancian ground forces, while land-based strategic bombers target enemy airbases and logistics centers in Vey and Petronium.
  • III.23: Elements of the 505th (Aqabah) Army, identified as the 250th (Sand Devil) Division, were reportedly on the move towards Pax, hoping to invest the city and isolate the northeast of Oportia from the rest of the country.
    • In response to the 250th (Sand Devil) Division's movement toward Pax, the NSC authorizes the activation of "Plan Citadel," converting major urban centers into fortress cities with civilian populations organized into defensive militias, while ordering the 3rd Marine Battalion to conduct amphibious raids against Constancian coastal positions to relieve pressure on Oportia.
    • 166 Javelin M-2 Dragoon UAVs conduct coordinated strikes against Constancian fuel depots and ammunition storage facilities in Surenshahr, while 95 M-1 Eternal stealth UAVs provide real-time battle damage assessment.
    • Deployment of chemical dispersal units to contaminate water sources along enemy advance routes, while People's Defense Militia of Oportia units activate pre-positioned improvised explosive devices targeting Constancian logistics convoys.
    • Oportia's 3rd Marine Battalion conducts amphibious raids against Constancian coastal positions using 3 Behaurnais-class amphibious assault ships, while 36 Alvarenga-class littoral combat ships provide fire support and rapid insertion capabilities.
    • Oportia launches large-scale electronic warfare operations using all available systems create false radar signatures and phantom communications to confuse Constancian targeting, while actual forces reposition for decisive counterattacks.
