Launched in direct response to Naya Raid

Operation Sovereign Bastion is an ongoing comprehensive security operation launched by the National Salvation Council on 10.XIII.1744 AN[1] in direct response to the Naya Raid and [[escalating resistance activities against military rule in Oportia. The operation represents the most extensive domestic security campaign since the 1744 Oportian coup d'état, targeting both internal resistance networks and foreign infiltration following the coordinated attack by Babkhan raiders on the federal city of Naya.

The operation combines internal security measures against the Democratic Restoration Committee with comprehensive border defense protocols designed to prevent foreign infiltration. The campaign was announced by National Salvation Council President Joseph Fouche during an emergency national broadcast on 10.XIII.1744 AN, declaring that "foreign aggression will be met with total resistance" while implementing sweeping security measures across all federal cities.[2]

The operation was triggered by the dawn-to-dusk assault on Naya on 9.XIII.1744 AN, which resulted in the assassination of the mayor and his family, multiple casualties among security forces, and the first successful attack on Oportian soil since the establishment of military rule.[3] The National Salvation Council characterized the raid as evidence of a coordinated campaign by "foreign powers" and the Confederacy of the Dispossessed to destabilize the regime through proxy forces.

Operation Sovereign Bastion operates under Emergency Decree No. 45[4], which places all foreign nationals from Committee of Euran Salvation member nations under enhanced surveillance and travel restrictions. The operation has resulted in the arrest of over 412 suspected resistance members, the implementation of martial law in all border provinces, and the suspension of civilian air travel indefinitely.

Oportian Free Fire zones

Oportian Border Free Fire Zones are military exclusion areas established by the National Salvation Council on 16.XIII.1744 AN[5] extending 5 kilometers inside Oportia's international borders. The zones were created following the Assault on Naya, which prompted the immediate suspension of all mining operations, including Alexandrium extraction, in border regions and the evacuation of equipment further inland. Under the policy, Oportian Security Forces were authorized to engage any unauthorized personnel within the designated areas without warning, effectively creating a militarized buffer zone around the country's perimeter. The establishment of the zones reflected the National Salvation Council's increasingly defensive posture and marked a significant escalation in border security measures during the period of military rule that began with the 1744 Oportian coup d'état.

Desert Shield protocol

The Desert Shield Protocol was an emergency defensive strategy implemented by the National Salvation Council of Oportia in 1744 AN during the escalating tensions with the Committee of Euran Salvation. Activated on 10.XIV.1744 AN[6] as part of the broader Operation Sovereign Bastion[7], the protocol established a comprehensive system of strategic resource denial and territorial defense focused on Oportia's desert regions, which contained vital Alexandrium mining operations and served as potential invasion corridors. The Desert Shield Protocol represents the National Salvation Council's commitment to "scorched earth" tactics rather than allow strategic resources to fall into enemy hands, with President Joseph Fouche declaring that "the deserts will become graveyards for any invader before they yield a single grain of Alexandrium."[8]
