Petropolis Compact

The Petropolis Compact was a documented agreement and understanding between the members of the Imperial House of Santiago-Santander regarding the succession of their several possessions, fiefdoms, and various properties. It was inspired by the Treaty of Dynastic Separation, and formally begun when Basilinna Esmeralda al-Osman expressed, "...her desire to ensure clarity, to avoid doubt in future years, to secure the generations thereafter, and to ensure peace in this dynasty, the Imperial State, in Eura, and around the world."

Formalized by Imperial Decree, and negotiated by the Imperial Synkletos to be further authenticated as an amendment to the Magna Carta of 1667, it was deemed politically and dynastically necessary to have it publicly witnessed by parties of significant reputation. As a result, it was signed on [DATE], two days after the Wedding of Alexander Ayreon-Kalirion, Prince of Shahzamin, and Eva von Hutten, in the Palace of Imperial Unity in Petropolis, during an open session of the Imperial Synkletos, and in the presence of foreign monarchs and dignitaries.

Text

We, Esmeralda, Basilinna of the Imperial State of Constancia, Supreme Lord of Astérapolis, Aqaba, Raspur, Nivardom, Cario, Ithonion, Arak, and Nísos Aigón, Defender and Protector of the Patriarchal Orthodox Faith, Princess of Arboria, Viscountess of Lumenetra, etc., declare Our Will and Pleasure and make known and commit for future memory of all, in the presence of our fellow monarchs, regal cousins, our Imperial Court and the Imperial Synkletos:

Desiring that a constant harmony be preserved forever between all our posterity, that it not be destroyed by the turmoils of dispute and dissension, to lay out more openly and clearly what Our Will always was and is at present on all matters relating to the order of succession among our many crowns and coronets, and to bind most firmly us and our issue to obey and strictly follow,

Therefore, We declare:

This Edict shall now constitute the House Law of the House of Santiago-Santander as mandated by the Magna Carta of 1667.

The Imperial Crown and Imperial Throne of the Imperial State of Constancia shall be inherited as follows:

As Decreed by our Imperial Predecessor of Blessed and Happy Memory, the Basilinna Olympia, before the open session of the 9th Imperial Synkletos, in Aqaba, 14.I.1694:

First, His Serene and Eminent Imperial Highness The Prince Iñigo of Molivadia and Arboria, followed by Her Serene and Eminent Imperial Highness The Princess Rosamund of Molivadia and Arboria.

Thereafter:

Should Our Children, The Prince Iñigo and The Princess Rosamund have heirs of their body after this promulgation, their issue shall assume positions in the succession in accordance with Our provisions.

Our descendants shall be required to have the consent of the Sovereign of the Imperial State of Constancia before their marriage, lest they forfeit the rights of their descendants from such union, to the succession to the Imperial Crown and Imperial Throne of the Imperial State of Constancia. Such consent shall be granted and provided under the Imperial Seal and provided to the Imperial Synkletos, which shall record it in its minutes.

Where Our grandchildren shall have children, they shall have precedence in the succession, with male preference before female. The foreign practices shall not have bearing on the succession. Where Our descendants shall inherit the Imperial Crown and Imperial Throne of the Imperial State of Constancia before reaching the age of twenty-one, the next successor-in-line shall assume the role of Regent with full Imperial authority until such age is reached, as already provided by Article 17 of the Magna Carta.

Abdications are permitted, provided that these are disclosed under the Imperial Seal to the Imperial Synkletos, which shall record it in its minutes. Any of Our descendants of twenty-one years and above may renounce membership in the Imperial House by public instrument to the Sovereign and Imperial Synkletos, and become an ordinary subject of the Imperial State, to the detriment of future heirs of their body and inability of such heirs to succeed.

We recognize Our age and grow sentimental. The indiscretions of Our beloved Son The Prince Iñigo are forgiven and granted Imperial Clemency. Javier Husayn is welcomed to the Imperial family as Knight Commander of the Order of the Royal and Imperial Blood, but shall not succeed to the Imperial Crown and Imperial Throne of the Imperial State of Constancia, nor shall his issue, legitimate or illegitimate. Marie Beatrice, Princess Consort of the Principality of Whales of the Bovic Empire of the Natopian Nation is welcomed to the Imperial family as Dame Commander of the Order of the Royal and Imperial Blood, but shall not succeed to the Imperial Crown and Imperial Throne of the Imperial State of Constancia, nor shall her issue, legitimate or illegitimate, unless the direct line of Our descendants is extinguished, after which she and her descendants may succeed.

Where the bloodline of Ourselves and Our beloved husband shall be extinguished, including the bloodline of Princess Marie Beatrice, We adopt the bloodline of Ardashir Khan Osmani, Shah of Babkha from 1466–1473. Where the bloodline of the House of Osman shall be extinguished, We adopt the House of Carillo to reign and rule over the Imperial Crown and Imperial Throne of the Imperial State of Constancia.

We reiterate the virtue of Our beloved Daughter The Princess Rosamund and attest to the purity of her children. They carry the blood of my Beloved Imperial Husband and the House of Osman, and whosoever denies this shall be mercilessly consigned to the afterlife.

We recognize the tribulations of Our Beloved Father of Blessed and Happy Memory regarding Our sister, the Princess Delphine. Any of Our descendants may be declared non compos mentis only by Imperial Decree, which shall only have effect if the Imperial Synkletos agrees, via resolution.

We have heard of the deliberations of Our Imperial Synkletos. The usurpation of sovereignty or the frustration of the lawful Imperial Succession by coup d'etat, mutiny, unlawful use of military or other armed force, purported revolution or rebellion or other political machinations, conspiracy or trick constitutes an imprescriptible crime against the Imperial State of Constancia. Any persons or entities performing such acts shall be considered to have declared war on the Crown, people, and the Imperial State of Constancia. Such reprehensible high crimes of treason are too odious to be cleansed by Imperial Clemency. In the event of the foregoing, any and all lawfully and duly-constituted Constancian authorities have the right and duty to utilize all means, including violent and lethal means to restore the lawful status, and all Constancians shall have the right and duty to defeat such illegitimate parties without civil or criminal or constitutional penalty.

The Principality of Arboria shall be inherited as follows:

This portion shall constitute A Decree and Order of The Princess of Arboria in Council:

We recognize and acknowledge the Constitution of Natopia and Chapter XI: Demesnes, Section 8 of the Caprine Code, which provides:

  • 1. The demesnial government of the Principality of Arboria is forever and permanently vested in Her Serene and Eminent Imperial Highness Princess Esmeralda of Arboria, Princess of Molivadia, of the Houses of Osman, Ayreon-Kalirion, and Santiago-Santander; and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten, and their descendants in a direct line. The Prince or Princess of Arboria appoints the Heir Apparent and relieves them of their duties by Order in Council of the Council of Arboria. Where the Heir Apparent shall assume the Throne of Arboria at an age below Twenty-Five years, a Regent previously-appointed by the Prince or Princess of Arboria shall rule in their name until age of ascendancy, and where there is no regent, a regent shall be elected by majority vote of the Council of Arboria.
  • 2. Where there is no Prince or Princess of Arboria due to the extinction of the line, the Council of Arboria shall assume the powers of the Prince, and shall elect a suitable Prince. Where there is no Council of Arboria, the government of the Principality shall be as the Frenzy or the Emperor of Natopia may provide.
  • 3. Any change to the government or demesnial status of the Principality of Arboria must meet the consent of the Prince or Princess of Arboria.

We recite and recall the Consensus of Government of 1676, sealed and witnessed before the Council of Arboria assembled at Fort Nider on the 5th day of Dankember in the year 1676.

We recite and recall that on her 27th birthday, 22.VI.1700, We invested Our beloved Daughter Princess Rosamund as Duchess of Mar Sara, in the peerage of the Principality of Arboria of the Bovic Empire of the Natopian Nation, with pre-eminence, in a ceremony at Tirlar, and formally declared Vicegerent of the Principality of Arboria, Chancellor of Arboria, as well as Heiress Apparent.

We recite and recall that on her 6th birthday, 11.VII.1719, We invested our beloved Granddaughter Princess Artemis Calliope as Countess Tylmarinnyn in the Peerage of Arboria.

It is to be understood that it is our desire and will that the following shall constitute the succession to the Principality of Arboria:

1. Our beloved Daughter Princess Rosamund, Duchess of Mar Sara, Vicegerent of the Principality of Arboria, Chancellor of Arboria, as well as Heiress Apparent.

2. Our beloved Granddaughter Princess Artemis Calliope, Countess Tylmarinnyn

3. Our beloved Grandson Prince Alexander Amirzadeh Augustin

I leave to my beloved Daughter and my beloved Granddaughter and their respective heirs of their body who to appoint as Heir Apparent during their respective reigns.

Only when the line of our beloved Daughter Princess Rosamund is extinguished shall my beloved Son The Prince Iñigo and his line serve the Principality of Arboria.

The Viscountcy of Lumenetra shall be inherited as follows:

No Imperial Decree or Autokratorial Decree or Act of the Imperial Synkletos shall amend or invalidate this edict. On humble petition of Our People and Our Imperial Synkletos, this shall be deliberated and agreed to as an Amendment to the Magna Carta.

Done in the presence of the principal members of our Imperial Court and other Courts and Counsellors of our Councils of State, in Petropolis the Nth day of the third month of Lanotropios, 1734, the Nth year of our Constancian reign, the Nth of our Arborian reign, and the Nth of our Lumenetran reign.
