2022–23 Hurmu Soccer League

The 2022–23 Hurmu Soccer League was the twelth season of the Hurmu Soccer League and the second under its new format. The league was split into three sections; a regional first round, a Winter Cup series and a national second round, to determine the champions of Hurmu. Additionally, following the transfer of the territory to the Benacian Union, the Warring Islands Championship was replaced with a Championship for teams from Hurmudan territories in Keltia.

Format

Teams initially compete in their local Championship. From these Championships, 20 teams (up from 14) will advance directly to the National Championship (4 teams from each championship). Furthermore, the next four best teams in each championship that failed to receive an automatic bye to the National Championship will compete in the Winter Cup, where 20 teams compete for the final 12 spots in the National Championship.

The 32 teams in the National Championship then play a two-legged knock-out tournament to determine the champions of the Hurmu Soccer League.

Regional Championships

Hurmu Lyrican Hurmu Championship

All 39 clubs that participated last season were once again accepted to compete. The eight sides that reached either the National Championship or Winter Cup stage last season were awarded a bye to the championship round, with the remaining clubs playing in a single-leg knock-out tournament to determine the last four teams to join the championship round.

Fourteen teams successfully applied from Lontinien to participate. They were placed in one league, with teams playing each other home and away. All 12 teams from last season again were accepted to compete, along with two new teams from the Emirate of Al-Khadra, Al-Abadian Al-Khadra and Khanabad SC.

Keltian Hurmu Championship

The Keltian Hurmu Championship was formed ahead of the season, with four teams accepted from Amaland (Amagaard FK, Eldevig FK, Havnegaard FK and Nordskåle FK) and Karnamark (Datret Karnamark FC, FC Kirkjubooð, Ny-Zanzibar FC and Oystra Karnahafn FC) respectively, whilst the Ports of Newhaven (Puerto Nuevo CF) and Samhold (Samhold Island FC) were additionally represented by a single team each, for a ten team division.

Winter Cup

The format of the Winter Cup was amended this season in order to ensure a greater number of teams reaching the National Championship. In this edition, teams will be split into 4 groups of 5 teams, with one team from each regional championship represented in each group. Furthermore, seeding for the groups was based on points-per-game and position within the regional championship phase. In each group, teams play a series of matches, with teams advancing once they win two matches. This format ensure three teams from each group advance, with two teams in each group being eliminated. All matches are hosted by the highest seeded team in each group.

First Round:

M1: Seed 1 vs Seed 4. M2: Seed 2 vs Seed 3

Second Round

M3: Winner M1 vs Winner M2, M4: Loser M1 vs Seed 5

Third Round

M5: Loser M3 vs Winner M4. M6: Loser M2 vs Loser M4

Fourth Round

M7: Loser M5 vs Winner M6

The winners of M3, M5 and M7 all qualify in each group for the National Championship stage.
