The Province of Fatehpur Sikri is a province in western Sanama. The province has a population of just over eight million people and an area of 2,000 km2, making it the eighth most populated and eighth largest province. The province was formed in 1679 with the passage of the new federal constitution and is largely coterminous with the previous Fatehpur Sikri region. The province is dominated by the Fatehpur Sikri metropolitan area, the second largest in Sanama after Niyi. It is bordered to the west by Western Amarra, to the east by Eastern Amarra and to the south by Sikri Bay, a bay of the Cosimo Sea. The capital Fatehpur Sikri is located at the mouth of the Blackwater River.

Geography

The province is heavily dominated by the continuous urban area of Fatehpur Sikri. The massive Blackwater River cuts through the province from north to south in two branches. The province is also the densest populated in the country. There are both forests and farmland to the southeast, making up almost all of the productive land in the province.

Economy

Fatehpur Sikri is the financial hub of Sanama, stemming back to Shirerithian times when the Fatehpur Sikri area was the center of this part of the south Benacian coast. It is also a major transportation hub for western Sanama, with several railway lines and major roads crossing the province. Sadri Industries out of Talenore has established its Sanaman branch in the city, trading mainly in industrial and mechanical products. Omega Airlines, with hub in the province and owned by Apishe Group, is headquartered in Fatehpur Sikri, while Siccre Maritime Industries, also owned by Apishe Group, is headquartered in West Fatehpur Sikri. Sanama State Maritime Industries also has a construction facility in West Fatehpur Sikri. Several units from the Sanaman Navy are also based in West Fatehpur Sikri.

Politics

Fatehpur Sikri province is governed by a 15-member Executive Council and a 311-member Legislative Assembly. Following the elections in 1679 the United Nationalist Alliance, Sanaman National Party and the Nationalist & Humanist Party formed a coalition government. The main opposition in the Coalition 1660. Just as most areas in Sanama, the civil service and government in the province is marred by corruption. Unlike Niyi though, Fatehpur Sikri politics is dominated by the Babkhi mafia Sababi Mo (Our Cause), also called Oila (The Family).

Culture

Fatehpur Sikri province is a melting pot of different Sanaman peoples and cultures. About half the population are Ama, constituting the largest population group. The second largest are the Istvanistani, making up more than a sixth of the population. Naturally these two groups dominate much of the cultural life in the province. There are however several other notable minorities, such as the Cisamarrese with about seven percent, and the Babkhi with over six percent. The over half a million Babkhi are the largest community of Babkhi in the country, counted both as a share and in absolute numbers. Over 200,000 Praeta-speakers are also found in the province. It is also home to 150,000 Ashkenatzi people, the largest such group in Sanama. With such a diverse population, there are many cultural institutions and events in the province.
