Pixa Tetaa ("southern wetlands" in Sanaman) is a people's republic of Sanama, situated in the southwestern parts of Sanilla and thereby southern parts of Sanama. The republic has an area of 45,000 km2 and a population of over ten million, making it an average sized republic while also being one of the most populated. It was formed in 1702 following the Sanaman Civil War. It is a mixed republic, with rural areas wedged between the urban centers of the coast and the southern and western Niyi suburbs. The countryside is dominated by rice fields, making Pixa Teta one of the largest producers of the staple in the country. The capital Awhara is located on the southern coast, while the larger city Pakuwi to the east is an important port for Niyi. It is bordered to the west by the Cosimo Sea, to the south by Ailan Feq and the Awhara Channel, to the north by Sanilla Ate, and to the northeast by Niyi and Harekina.
Etymology
The name Pixa Teta is composed of the word teta, meaning "south", and pixa, meaning "marsh, wetlands". The composite word therefore has the meaning "southern wetlands", referring to the several rivers passing through the area, with marshy areas in between. The name was not in use before the creation of the people's republic.
Geography
The western and southern parts of the Niyi metropolitan area extends into the republic. Off the coast to the west are the low Hareffa Lunti islands, so named because of their evergreen vegetation. To the north in the group of islands is the hilly island of Lakhesis, home to the Lakhesis goat. Mainland Pixa Teta is dominated by the marshy wetlands of southwest Sanilla, consisting of open grasslands used for grazing and rice farming, as well as dense mangrove and palm tree forests. The environment is home to many species of both animals and plants, with abundant bird life, as well as small and medium sized grazers such as antelope, deer and carabao. The dense forests are also home to several species of small monkeys. The areas closest to the southern coast also host alligators. Hiking in the area is generally discouraged due to the presence of snakes and medium sized predators, such as the Sanillan wetland lion.
Economy
In the southern parts, banana plantations and rice fields mingle with dense forests. The island of Lakhesis to the west sees limited grazing, primarily of domesticated Lakhesis goat, while the Hareffa Lunti islands are popular tourism destinations. Manufacturing industries are mainly located in the major urban areas, such as West Niyi, South Niyi, Pakuwi, Sentora and Awhara. Several of the coastal cities, such as Pakuwi, Awhara, Puri Teta, Sentora as well as the island cities of Lunti City and Fort Lakhesis, host a flourishing fishing industry, together with shoreside canning. In addition, Pakuwi is a major trading port, serving both the people's republic and Niyi. Several of the nation's shipping companies are headquartered in the city.
