Panetiraa is a people's republic of Sanama, constituting the westernmost part of the country, including Jezar Mergu off the Cisamarrese coast. The republic has an area of 55,000 km2 and a population of nine million, making it the fifth most populated republic. It was formed in 1702 following the Sanaman Civil War. The west and center are largely rural areas with agricultural fields, mostly rice paddies and fruit farms, and dense forests, while the east contains the western part of the Fatehpur Sikri urban area and Sëwulat, the nations's sixth largest city. Panetira has recently expanded their production of wheat, potatoes and vegetables. The capital Aruang is located on the coast.
Etymology
The name Panetira is derived from tira, meaning "lowland, field, marsh" and pane, meaning "sandy beach", referencing the sandy beaches along the western Sanaman coast. The name was constructed when the people's republic was formed and had not been in use before that to describe the area.
Geography
Panetira has an area of 64,613 square kilometers and lies within the humid subtropical climate zone, between latitudes 29° and 32°N, and longitudes 134° and 140°W. It is bordered to the west by Cisamarra, to the north by Kortilhera, to the east by Fatehpur Sikri and to the south by the Cosimo Sea. The landscape is, as the name implies, dominated by the western Sanaman lowlands, which transitions into the southern edge of the Kortilhera foothills in the north. Panetira is famous for its many sandy beaches along the coast.
On the western border with Cisamarra, close to Acquecalde, is Laguna Lake. The lake used to be entirely outside Cisamarra, but following a border adjustment, the lake is bisected by the border. The border with Cisamarra is characterised by dense forests covering hills reaching up to 150 meters in elevation over the lowlands. Several north to south rivers cut through the lowlands and empty into the Cosimo Sea.
Panetira experiences long, hot and humid summers with often daily thundershowers, and peak rainfall in the hottest months. Winters are usually mild and above freezing, although temperatures can occasionally dip below freezing in the higher altitude hills to the north. Subtropical storms are not infrequent. The temperature in winter is usually between 12° and 18° and during summer between 21° and 32°.
Administrative divisions
Panetira is divided into eight cantons.
