The Sanama State Maritime Industries was formed in 1680 when the federal government of Sanama merged the military naval vessel producers Port Niyi Shipyards and Siccre Maritime Industries. The new company is fully owned by the federal government and headquartered in Port Niyi. The federal government divested the civilian operations into the new Siccre Maritime Industries. The new company was later taken over by Apishe Group.

History

The Port Niyi Shipyards was nationalised by the federal government in 1674 and is currently tasked with producing military naval equipment for the Federal Navy of Sanama as well as foreign clients. Siccre Maritime Industries was a private-public cooperative enterprise producing maritime systems and vessels. In a cooperation agreement with Port Niyi Shipyards it hosted one production line of the Awake-class diesel submarine.

Production line

The first ship built wholly by the PNS was the Awake-class diesel submarine. The design is based on the Asleep-class nuclear submarine, but redesigned to house diesel propulsion and an Air Independent Propulsion system.
