All Sanaman citizens are required to participate in 21–24 months of basic military training. A large share of conscripts are trained in the army.
Army General Staff
The overall command of the Army is conducted by the General Staff of the Army, reporting to and commanded by the Commanding General of the Army and via them to the Department of Defence. Overall civilian control of the Army flows through the Under-Secretary for the Army to the Secretary for Defence, and ultimately to the President as Commander-in-Chief.
