Science and technology in Nouvelle Alexandrie have played a significant role in shaping the federation's development. As a nation that prides itself on innovation and progress, Nouvelle Alexandrie has made substantial investments in research and development across various scientific and technological fields. These efforts have not only enhanced the nation's economic competitiveness but have also contributed to improving the quality of life for its citizens.
Overview
The most ambitious scientific programs of Nouvelle Alexandrie have historically been in life sciences, engineering, and space technology. The bulk of the funding of scientific research and development is granted by the Federal Science & Research Council, established in 1690 AN. This organization provides grants-based funding through a number of programs from its four so-called "domains":
- Exact and Natural Sciences
- Applied and Engineering Sciences
- Social Sciences and Humanities
- Health Research and Development
History
Before the unification of Alduria and Wechua Nation in 1685 AN, the former had established two leading science institutes: the Centre de Recherche Scientifique de Punta Santiago in 1673 AN, and the Institut des Sciences d'Amapola in 1679 AN.
Since its founding in 1685 AN, Nouvelle Alexandrie has been at the forefront of scientific discovery and technological innovation. Through the Department of Research and Development, created in 1689 AN, it rapidly established and invested in a national research network, centred in Cárdenas, the new national capital. Between 1685 AN and 1700 AN, 14 new national centres of research - including 7 centers for the National Health Institute - were established in two dedicated science parks: Vida Science Park, dedicated to health and life sciences; and Máquina Science Park, dedicated to engineering and technology.
Since then, new research and development institutes and research parks have been established, most notably the Punta Santiago Nexus in 1718 AN.

Major Achievements
Super Collider
The Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) was an ambitious megaproject designed to create a 80+ km particle accelerator with the intent to perform advanced fundamental particle research. It was initially planned in 1719 AN, when the Department of Research and Development formulated its national plan for a world-class particle physics facility. The site was eventually chosen about 22 km south of Ardabil, Alduria, near the military installation known as CCI. Construction eventually began in 1726 AN, and operations began in 1734 AN.
The major achievements of the SSC are not only in theoretical and particle physics, but also in applied sciences. Still, some of the discoveries made by the SCC in particle research include:
- Confirmation of supersymmetric particles
- First experimental evidence suggesting quantum gravity effects
- Discovery of new subatomic particles
While the SCC has also been instrumental in both material sciences, biotechnology, and computing, including:
- Novel superconducting materials with liquid-nitrogen temperature quality
- Advanced medical isotopes with advanced targeting mechanisms for the treatment of cancer
- New radiation-hardened materials with applications in spacecraft and extreme environments.
- Quantum entanglement stabilization techniques with application in quantum computing development
Alexandrium
The discovery of Alexandrium in 1729 AN, an effort led by the Royal University of Parap, has almost single-handedly revolutionized the scientific and technological development of Nouvelle Alexandrie. Through its unique properties - such as near-room-temperature superconductivity, high energy density, and isotope stability - Alexandrium has potential applications in energy, materials science, quantum computing, and remediation technology.
Since its discovery, regulations brought about by the extensive report of the Inquiry Committee on Alexandrium and its Origins have made research on Alexandrium and potential applications one of the most lucrative and innovative in Nouvelle Alexandrie. Strict licensing of extraction and research are in the hands of the Department of Research and Development, which monitors the exploitation and utilization of the material.
Notable Alexandrium-based applications include:
- Alexandrium-based Defense Technologies:
- Directed Energy Weapons
- Kinetic & Explosive Munitions
- Energy Shield Systems
- Cyber & Quantum Systems
- Personal & Vehicular Defense Systems
- Autonomous Systems
- Hypersonic and Aerospace Systems
- Radiological and Area Denial Systems
- Psychological & Asymmetric Warfare Systems
- Quantum Computing
- Power Cells
- Medical technologies
- Neural interfaces
- Advanced diagnostic imaging systems
- Alexandrium isotope cancer treatment
- Medical implants
- Environmental Remediation
Government Policies and Support
Federal
The Department of Research and Development is responsible for the national policies concerning science, technology, and innovation. It governs €185 billion in science funding as of 1730 AN, with about 40% of the budget invested annually into health & life sciences; and a further 10% into the Aeronautics and Space Administration. It also invested about €88 billion in technology and innovation, with about 50% of it spent on public investment into industry and manufacturing.
Since 1685 AN, the federal government has spent significant funds into science and technology, and has initiated several groundbreaking scientific programs, including:
- Initiative for the National Interest, a prominent public-private partnership for defense, technology, and civil engineering.
- Alexandrium Initiative, a groundbreaking collaborative program with Oportia and Natopia for joint research and development on Alexandrium.
- Frontera Program, a comprehensive program for research and development, with a focus on applied sciences and life sciences.
- Crown Talents Program, a national recruitment and development initiative aimed to attract and educate high-level scientists, researchers, and domestic talent.
- Joint Space Research Initiative, a collaborative initiative with Natopia for joint space research and development.
- Nouvelle Alexandrie Fusion Initiative, a national program to achieve nuclear fusion for energy research and development.
Regional
The Regions of Nouvelle Alexandrie, while significantly less powerful than the federal government, have important policies of investment that allows them to stimulate research and development of science, technology, and innovation. The most important funding provided by regional government is into infrastructure and businesses. This has allowed for the development of important technology parks such as:
- Vida and Máquina Science Park in Cárdenas
- CarSan Tech Corridor, between Cárdenas and Wechuahuasi
- Boriquén Technology District in Hato Rey
- Punta Santiago Nexus in Punta Santiago
