Amapola is a major inland metropolis in the Region of Alduria, Nouvelle Alexandrie. With a population of 3,842,671 (1723 AN census), it is the fourth-largest city in Nouvelle Alexandrie and a crucial industrial, cultural, and entertainment center. Located in the heart of Alduria's industrial belt, Amapola is renowned for its strategic importance to the nation's energy sector, manufacturing capabilities, and its vibrant cultural scene. The city holds Special City status within the Federation, granting it direct access to federal funding and development programs.

Established in 1671 AN during the early development of Alduria, Amapola was planned as an industrial center, strategically positioned near major hydrocarbon deposits. The city's name, meaning "poppy" in Martino, references the wild poppies that once blanketed the desert plains where the city now stands. The discovery of significant oil and natural gas reserves in the region during the late 1670 ANs transformed Amapola from a modest industrial settlement into a booming metropolis.

Today, Amapola is known as the cradle of the New Alexandrian labor movement, with a rich history of worker organization and social progress that dates back to the early days of the Aldurian Republic. The city serves as headquarters for the Aldurian Oil Company, the state-owned energy giant, among many other major corporations. It also hosts some of the nation's largest manufacturing complexes. Its skyline is dominated by the gleaming towers of its entertainment district, the historic buildings of the Institut des Sciences d'Amapola (ISA), and the massive industrial complexes that power the nation's economy.

Amapola's cultural significance extends beyond industry, as it is home to prestigious institutions such as the Grand Ballet of Amapola and the Institut des Sciences d'Amapola, which has been at the forefront of scientific research and innovation since its establishment in 1679 AN. The city is also a major military center, hosting the Amapola Joint Military Complex, a significant base for both the Army and Air Force components of the Federal Forces of Nouvelle Alexandrie.
