Initially founded as a small public college, over the years the university was able to absorb and integrate former Storish and Alexandrian educational institutions after a rigorous reorganization that saw a strong "Devanicization" policy that favored highlighting its Alexandrian legacy. The university slowly expanded its offerings, adding faculties such as law, medicine, and humanities. Today, the University of Lausanne is recognized as a leading institution for higher education and research in Nouvelle Alexandrie.
