1753 MTO secretary-general election
The 1753 MTO secretary-general election began upon the resignation of incumbent secretary-general of the Micras Treaty Organization, Ian Holden, on 15.III.1753.
The Lanzerwald Republic nominated Mondo Rechter-Katzenfreund to succeed Holden. Floria nominated Michael Hutchinson. Nouvelle Alexandrie nominated Túpac Mendoza, following which Rechter-Katzenfreund withdrew. The Constancian delegation intended to nominate its own candidate, but reconsidered and decided to throw its support to the nominee of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie.
After a lengthy vote, Túpac Mendoza was elected as the next Secretary-General of the Micras Treaty Organization with 13 votes over Michael Hutchinson's 3 votes.
Following the announcement of the result, the Benacian Union subsequently withdrew from the MTO citing election irregularities, a botched initial vote, and a failure on the part of the institution to establish contact as with regards to the replacement procedure.
