Michael Hutchinson is a Florian politician currently serving as the President of Floria. He has been in office since 1725 AN and his premiership is mostly known for Floria’s Raspur Pact membership referendum. He is also Floria’s first president post-Floxit. Hutchinson is known for his traditional conservative views rejecting abortion and believing in traditional family values. Hutchinson eventually during his tenure also became an advocate to abolish the death penalty. Unlike his predecessors, Hutchinson has strong views on anti-war preferring diplomatic solutions over violence and as such gained popularity among the Florian people tired of conflict imposed by the Florian government.
Hutchinson oversaw reforms eventually leading to the United Party of the Republic becoming the outright major party of Floria.
Life before presidency
Born in the central state of Pentucky, Hutchinson was raised by lawyers and it would be that profession that he would pursue at university however he would go into finance after graduation and formed Hutchinson & Co. which would go onto become one of Floria’s largest private banks.
Presidency
Early actions
Shortly inaugurated after the election in 1725, Hutchinson felt pressure immediately as Floria headed to the polls regarding Raspur Pact membership. Hutchinson during the referendum kept a neutral stance and stated that his plans for Floria would not change regardless of its membership status.
Hutchinson who opposed some elements of the death sentence relaxed capital punishment laws for certain types of crime.
After leaving the Raspur Pact, Hutchinson immediately declared Floria non-aligned and that it would no longer engage in large-scale conflict however pledged to maintain its global military influence and protect its territorial interests in the Norfolk Isles and Etourney.
12-year terms were controversially abolished under Hutchinson and extended to 24 which effectively made Hutchinson set to become the longest serving President in Florian history. This however was blocked by the supreme court prompting a radical change to the right in Hutchinson's administration proposing radical changes in his 1738 campaign, Floria First!.

- Floria will remain unaligned as long as Hutchinson is in power.
- Floria will not seek confrontation with other nations.
- Floria will protect its citizens wherever they are.
- Floria will develop ties which were not explored during Floria’s time in the Raspur Pact.
