Order of the Holy Lakes v Raudsepp et al.

The Order of the Holy Lakes v Annika Raudsepp, Muhammad Abdullah, and Nada Lesjak is a criminal case before the Senate of the Lakes, sitting as the supreme court of justice of the Order of the Holy Lakes and Hurmu. The prosecutor in the case is Janek Tryggve, Knight of the Holy Lakes.

Timeline

  • 1720-III-15: Raudsepp, Abdullah, and Lesjak escape Huyenkula
  • 1724-I-16: Raudsepp et al. arrested by Cerulean authorities
  • 1724-I-17: Raudsepp et al. deported to Normark
  • 1724-II-2: Normark extradites Raudsepp et al. to Hurmu
  • 1724-III-17: The Senate brings charges of high treason, treachery, sedition, and waging illegal war against the Holy Order of the Lakes upon Raudsepp et al.
  • 1724-V-10: Janek Tryggve is appointed Prosecutor in the case.
  • 1724-V-11: Teams of 5 lawyers are appointed to each defendant.
  • 1724-V-12: Defence are given until 1724-IX-9 prepare their defence.
  • 1724-IX-10: First stage of the trial begins, in which the Prosecution outlines the evidence for each count for each defendant. Witnesses called on behalf of the prosecution. Other evidence presented and examiend.
  • 1725-II-11: Prosecution finished. Second stage of the trial begins, where the Defence begins rebutting the claims of the Prosecution. Witnesses called on behalf of the Defence. Other evidence presented and examined.
  • 1725-VII-4: Rebuttal from the prosecution begins.
  • 1725-VIII-7: Rebuttal from the prosecution ends.
  • 1725-VIII-8: Second rebuttal of the Defence
  • 1725-XIV-10: Second rebuttal of the Defence ends.
  • 1725-XIV-11: Prosecution and Defence rest. Senate, in camera, begins examining the guilt on each count for each defendant.
  • 1726-IV-8: Senate finds Annika Raudsepp guilty of all charges (treason, treachery, sedition, and waging an illegal war), Nada Lesjak guilty of treachery and sedition, and not guilty of treason and waging an illegal war, and Muhammad Abdullah guilty of treachery and not guilty of treason, sedition, and waging an illegal war.
  • 1726-IV-9: Senate begins deliberating on appropriate sentencing.

Trial

The trial began on 10.IX.1724, with Prosecutor Janek Tryggve making the following submission to the Senate:

  • By levying war against the Order of the Holy Lakes and adhering to the Order’s enemies, giving them aid or comfort; and by attempting to undermine the lawfully established constitutional order, Raudsepp, Abdullah, and Lesjak committed high treason.
  • By violating their oaths of office, Raudsepp, Abdullah, and Lesjak betrayed the trust the constitutional authorities, and by extension, the people of Hurmu, had placed in them. In so doing, Raudsepp, Abdullah, and Lesjak committed treachery.
  • By inciting the people to rebel against the lawful order, Raudsepp, Abdullah, and Lesjak committed sedition.
  • By engaging in acts of warfare against the Order of the Holy Lakes and Hurmu, contrary to the law of Hurmu and the law of the Order of the Holy Lakes, Raudsepp, Abdullah, and Lesjak committed the offence of waging illegal war against the Holy Order of the Lakes.
