The coronation of Vadoma and her husband, Edward, as Empress and Emperor of Eastern Natopia is scheduled to take place on 1.I.1717 AN, at Cathedral-Basilica of the Sacred Calf (The Ruined Cathedral) in Lindström, Eastern Natopia. Empress Vadoma acceded to the throne on 23.III.1716 AN, upon the death of her brother, Emperor Nathan III.

Background

Vadoma became Empress of Eastern Natopia immediately upon the death of her brother, Emperor Nathan III, at 07:15 local time on 23.III.1716 AN. Vadoma was proclaimed Empress of Eastern Natopia by an accession council composed of the children of Nathan III, Chancellor Eiiard Darkroot, and multiple other major government officials on 25.III.1716 AN, which was followed by proclamations and other public notices. With her accession to the throne of Eastern Natopia, Vadoma I assumed the title of Empress of the Natopians.

With this coronation representing the reunion of Natopia and the "official" start of Natopian reintegration, representatives of Western Natopia and Eastern Natopia's governments met with Vadoma I and Edward I to establish a Coronation Committee and lay out initial plans for a grand coronation that would bring together Natopia in a festival of unity.

Economic effects

While the initial shock from the death of Nathan III caused markets in Natopia and several nations like Nouvelle Alexandrie to dive, when the accession of Vadoma I was formalized, markets responded positively to the news of a reunited Natopia, leading to large gains across the board in many Raspur Pact nations, especially the economies that share the natopo like the Community of Goldfield.

Preparations

Planning for the coronation ceremony began soon after the funeral of Nathan III, held on 23.III.1716 AN at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Sacred Calf. The Imperial Court of Natopia began planning the event by appointing the Chief Herald, the Captain of the Satyric Guard, and a representative from the House of Waffel-Paine to serve on the Coronation Committee. It was decided early on that an small memorial ceremony would take place in the morning to honor and celebrate Nathan III's life, and honor his children and surviving partners. Following the ceremony, the coronation of Vadoma and her husband Edward would happen in the afternoon. The committee established an initial budget of ₦60,000,000 for the ceremonies.

Coronation Committee

In choosing the Coronation Committee, Vadoma and Edward opted to continue with the officials that had carried the coronation of Nathan III in 1704 AN. Claire De Fond, the Chief Herald of Natopia, assumed the role once more of Chairperson of the Coronation Committee, as announced by Vista de Nada Palace on 26.III.1716 AN. Alexandros Epsilon, Captain of the Satyric Guard, returned to serve as vice-chair, responsible for logistics and security for the coronation and liaison to law enforcement agencies. To honor her brother and in a public show of support to his widow, Vadoma and her husband Edward asked Makhmud Kalimatov to return as the representative of the House of Waffel-Paine. Andrej Mika, Court of the Calm Waters' Assistant Secretary of Political Affairs was re-appointed to select the guest list of foreign heads of state and government.

The Emperor's Greenery

To honor the memory of Nathan III, a national campaign was launched on 12.IV.1716 AN to encourage the citizens of Natopia to plan two trees to make their community greener. The tree was meant to memorialize the late Emperor and celebrate his life. On 12.VI.1716 AN, the one millionth tree in the project had been planted, registered in Arboria. To aid disadvantaged or underserved communities, the Natopian government subsidised the provision and cultivation of small trees and seeds for the tree growth campaign.
