The Realm of Western Corum (Pallisican: Ranalama del Wéazdeign Qurüma; Sangunese: 西コルム王国 Nishi Korumu Ōkoku) is a coastal state in western Corum. Established on 18.XII.1746 AN, it has been self-governing in free association with East Zimia and the Wallis Islands since 1.I.1752 AN.

History

In 1630 AN, Queen Evahn I of Passio-Corum decreed the establishment of a new regional investor, Corum Electric, responsible for supplying electricity to the non-Bassarid cities of Corum. Corum Electric subsequently operated as an autonomous regional investor in the Port of Vines until the collapse of the Haifo-Pallisican Imperial Trade Union in 1719 AN. Two years later, the area was occupied by the forces of the nascent Kingdom of East Zimia and the Wallis Islands in Operation High Voltage, who established a small coastal enclave, the Principality of Corum Electric, surrounded by the Çakari princely state of Jaihabar.

Rising tensions with the Braxian League led to the evacuation of Jaihabur by Çakaristan in 1739 AN; the resulting security concerns prompted the construction of the Corum Electric Fence, a 432 kilometre defensive barrier extending along the principality's landward border with the Green. Although the fence was largely complete by 1744 AN, hawks within the local administration began to argue for an expansion of the protected area, with the aim of securing the coastal approaches to the principality and providing added strategic depth for the crucial energy production facilities. These arguments were given fresh urgency by the Corsair Resurgence of 1743-4 AN and the Oportian occupation of the neighbouring island, leading to East Zimia's subsequent intervention in the Battle of the Île des Ombres during the Fourth Euran War. The eventual outcome was the annexation of a further 47,376 square kilometres of territory adjoining the enclave, which thereby more than trebled in size; the expanded territory was subsequently proclaimed the Realm of Western Corum on 18.XII.1746 AN.

During a visit by Queen Mina II and her recently-wed husband, the Crown Companion Hans, to Corum Electric City, a power surge disrupted the amniotic tank containing the couple's unborn daughter, causing her premature birth on 7.XIV.1746 AN. Local adherents of the Sombre Path saw the event as evidence of a profound spiritual connection between the Princess- who was duly named Electra- and her unforeseen birthplace, causing many to acclaim the child as a new enlightened one. Queen Mina immediately bestowed the title of Princess of Corum Electric upon her daughter, prompting speculation that she intended the young princess to eventually rule the region. Princess Electra was given command of the 2nd "Corum Electric" Division of the East Zimian and Wallisian War League in VIII.1750 AN, which she subsequently used to conquer the nearby city of Assek, and was named viceroy of Western Corum on 20.VIII.1751 AN.

In XV.1751 AN, Queen Mina ended the speculation surrounding the future of the region by announcing that Western Corum would become a self-governing state under the rule of her daughter, with East Zimia and the Wallis Islands retaining overall responsibility for defence and foreign affairs. Princess Electra accordingly became Queen of Western Corum on 1.I.1752 AN. The neighbouring Assek Protectorate, of which the new queen was already monarch, was incorporated at the same time.
