The 1700 general election was the first election held in Kurum Ash-Sharqia. They were held on the 29th day of 1700 AN, soon after the promulgation of the nation's constitution. 100 seats in Al-Majlis Al-Watani were up for election.
The election was won by the Islamic People's Party, who won 58 seats and an absolute majority. Subseqently, Faisal Van Looveren was appointed to the office of Grand Vizier.
