The 1728 general election was held in Kurum Ash-Sharqia to elect the 9th session of Al-Majlis Al-Watani. The election was held on the 19th day of 1728 AN. 100 seats in Al-Majlis Al-Watani were up for election.

The I.P.P.-minority cabinet was supported by the A.C.C.P., which proved itself to be a loyal partner. The A.C.C.P. gained two seats and joined the cabinet; forming a narrow majority cabinet with the IPP with 51 seats. The expansion of Kurum Ash-Sharqia into the Green was a main goal for the cabinet, as well as economic reforms to boost the ailing economy. Pressure on the Surveying and Expansion Commission to finally deliver increased.
