History
Gevet Athletic FC was founded in 2024 by representatives of several local amateur football organisations in Gevet. The club was established with the aim of creating a unified professional football organisation capable of representing the city at national level.
The founders adopted the name "Athletic" to reflect the club's origins in community sport and its commitment to developing local football. Although professional football had previously been played in Gevet, Gevet Athletic FC was established as a new organisation and does not claim the sporting record of the historical Klub Gevet.
During its first years, Gevet Athletic FC concentrated on establishing its senior football squad, recruiting qualified coaches and developing relationships with local youth clubs. The club participated in regional football competitions and friendly matches while preparing for a possible entry into the national professional league system. Its early development was supported by local businesses, sporting organisations and community fundraising.
The restructuring of Çakari football in 2026 provided an opportunity for Gevet Athletic FC to enter national competition. The club expanded its administrative operations, strengthened the senior squad and developed facilities suitable for professional football. The construction and development of Gevet Civic Stadium became an important part of this process.
In 2026, the Çakaristan Football Federation announced the expansion of the highest national division from eight to 24 clubs. The competition was renamed the Çakari Super League. Gevet Athletic FC was admitted as one of the new participants, representing Gevet in the expanded league. The 2026–27 season marked the club's first appearance in the national top division.
