Palanka ŽFK (full name: Palanka Ženski Fudbalski Klub) is a women's association football club based in Palanka, the capital of Rečnozemlja, Çakaristan. Founded in 2025, the club competes in the Çakari Women's Football League, the highest level of women's club football in Çakaristan.
Nicknamed the River Roses, Palanka ŽFK represents the growing women's football community of Palanka and Rečnozemlja. The club plays its home matches at Palanka City Stadium, which has a capacity of 20,532 spectators.
Palanka ŽFK maintains a sporting partnership with FC Palanka, the city's established men's football club, while operating as an independent women's football organisation. The club became one of sixteen founding participants in the inaugural 2026–27 Çakari Women's Football League.
History
Palanka ŽFK was founded in 2025 by local football organisers, educators and supporters of women's sport in Palanka. The organisation was established to provide competitive opportunities for female footballers from Palanka and surrounding communities throughout Rečnozemlja. The founders sought to create a women's football club that combined the sporting traditions of the region with a distinct modern identity. The name "ŽFK" stands for Ženski fudbalski klub, meaning women's football club.
During its first year, Palanka ŽFK organised training sessions, local friendly matches and community football activities. The club recruited players from Palanka and other settlements in Rečnozemlja. It also developed relationships with schools and amateur sporting organisations to encourage the participation of girls and young women in football.
Palanka ŽFK established a sporting partnership with FC Palanka, one of the established football organisations of the region. The partnership enabled the women's club to use existing football facilities, including Palanka City Stadium. Despite this cooperation, Palanka ŽFK maintains a separate board, senior squad and technical staff. The women's club does not claim the historical results or honours of FC Palanka.
The incorporation of Rečnozemlja into Çakaristan created new opportunities for regional football clubs to participate in national competitions. In 2026, the Çakaristan Football Federation introduced the Çakari Women's Football League. Palanka ŽFK was selected as one of sixteen founding participants. The 2026–27 season marked the club's first participation in national professional football.
