Federal Chancellor of Sanama
This article is about the head of the civil service under the First Republic. For the head of government under the Second Republic, see Chancellor of Sanama.
The Federal Chancellor of Sanama headed the Federal Chancellery, the support staff of the Federal Council, under the First Republic. The chancellor directed and coordinated the work of the chancellery and reported to the Federal Council. The Federal Chancellor was elected by the Federal Assembly of Sanama for a four-year term. The appointment was a political one, with the working majority in the Federal Assembly usually electing a suitable candidate from their own ranks. The office was abolished in 1679 and replaced with the Principal Under-Secretary for the Federal Chancellery, head of the Federal Chancellery of Sanama.
