The Gerenian football league system consist on three national tiers (Gerenian League 1, Gerenian League 2, and Gerenian League 3), and eight Provincial Leagues below. Only the two highest leagues are professional, while the rest are semi-professional. Below the Provincial Leagues, a number of amateur Regional Leagues operate.

Each division has a promotion-relegation system, where the best ranked team(s) in a division move up to a higher level in the following season, while the lowest ranked teams are moved to a lower level.
