The Council of State is the federal executive, chaired by the Chancellor and sharing the executive power with the President. The first Council of State was formed on 21.X.1679 following successful negotiations between the United Nationalist Alliance, Sanaman National Party, Northern League and Partito Popolare Cisamarrese. It represents the first center-right government since Sanama gained independence in 1671.
