The Federal Assembly of Sanama is the bicameral legislature of Sanama. The upper house, the Council of Cantons, has 69 members, one from each canton. The lower house, the National Council, has 400 members proportionally elected with the entire country as a single constituency. The houses are equal in power and both must consent to pass legislation. The Federal Assembly shares the federal legislative power with the people through referendum.
