Bani Batir is a governorate of the Sultanate of Kurum Ash-Sharqia. It was established as a governorate in 1732 AN.
History
The Bani Batir consider themselves to be the heirs of Batır, a former Thraci member state. The city of Kabyk was its capital and is still the region's main settlement.
From 1727 AN to 1731 AN, the Surveying and Expansion Commission was investigating if and how the Green could be colonized. In its 1730 report, the Commission proposed to have treaties with two larger settlements of stateless people, in order to create goodwill in these settlements for the expansion. The Treaty between Kurum Ash-Sharqia and the Bani Batir guaranteed human rights and citizenship, guaranteed Batır's old borders and limited immigration from the rest of Kurum Ash-Sharqia for the first five years.
