The Sanaman rilha is the currency of Sanama, usually abbreviated R$. The currency was introduced in 1680 and replaced the Natopian natopo at the rate 1 natopo = R$1.45. It is named after the oyster shells traditionally used as window panes, currency and other items by the Sanis and Amas. The currency is issued and controlled by the Pangka Nasyonal Sanamali.
Implementation
The currency is planned to be introduced in three steps. The first step is to release it into circulation alongside the Natopian natopo while also being pegged to it. The second step is to withdraw the natopo from legal tender status and circulation. The third and final step is to unpeg the rilha and let it float as a normal currency. There are discussions about tying the new currency within a band to either the natopo or a basket of international currencies. No decision has been made yet.
