The relations between the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie and the Order of the Holy Lakes are close and warm. Relations are characterised by shared democratic values, a market-based economy with extensive cross-border trade, and the equality of sentient life and regard for sentient rights, as well as their opposition to Vanic extremism. Both countries share a border in Lyrica, making them the only two countries to currently exercise sovereignty over the continent.
Most members of the royal family of Nouvelle Alexandrie are members of the Order of the Holy Lakes by descent from Queen Dowager Abigail.
Timeline
- 1689:
- The Hurmu Trust Territory and Alduria-Wechua (as Nouvelle Alexandrie was known back then) establish diplomatic relations, with Alduria-Wechua beginning to annex Lyrica in the aftermath of the collapse of Stormark.
- 1690:
- The Hurmu Trust Territory and Craitland's overseas territory of Lakkvia merge to form the re-established Hurmu state.
- Negotiations begin on a treaty between the two countries. The Hurmu government sent Senator Catarina de Todos los Santos u-Kart, an Alexandrian by birth (with a Hurmu mother), to several meetings with the Aldurian-Wechuan leadership. In the end, the two countries had agreed on the basic outline of a treaty, and an intensive negotiations phase occurred in Ciudad Howard.
- 1691:
- Treaty of Ciudad Howard signed between the two countries. Vicaquirao Alvarez, Vice-President and Secretary of State, signed it on behalf of Alduria-Wechua and Catarina de Todos los Santos u-Kart on behalf of the Hurmu.
- Later, the same year, Alduria-Wechua and Hurmu both become parties to the Hurmu–Raspur Pact Free Trade Agreement, in which free-trade between Alduria-Wechua and Hurmu is guaranteed, and between other Raspur Pact countries and Hurmu as well.
- Both treaties were ratified this year by the relevant authorities.
- 1693:
- Alduria-Wechua changes its name to Nouvelle Alexandrie.
- 1694:
- The Hurmu Ruins Treaty is signed, in which Hurmu and Nouvelle Alexandrie agreed that the legal personality of Alduria-Wechua had passed to Nouvelle Alexandrie. Moreover, the treaty caused the Order of the Holy Lakes to be incoroporated as a legal person in Nouvelle Alexandrie, and protection of cultural and archaeological artefacts in Lyrica of Hurmu origin, especially the ruins of Jakrestad and Tjootahite (which are considered holy by Hurmudans). The Order of the Holy Lakes also set up a museum in Lausanne, in the Temple of the Lakes to house all such artefacts and cultural relics that are found in Nouvelle Alexandrie territory.
- 1702
- Hurmu consulates in Fauquier, Quesque, and Punta Norte closed for financial reasons
- 1720
- Operation Enduring Alliance: the New Alexandrian led Allied Mission in Eastern Apollonia, Hurmu & Lyrica intervened on the side of the Senate of the Lakes to end the 1719–1720 Hurmu civil conflict.
- Hurmu uses the name Order of the Holy Lakes for all formal purposes
