The 2023 Formula Micras World Championship is a motor racing championship for single-seater cars which will be the second running of the Formula Micras World Championship. It is recognised by the Micras Federation of Motorsport (MFM), the governing body of international motorsport, as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars on Micras. The championship is contested over a number of 16 Grands Prix, which are held around the world.
After the presentation of the official calendar, the season will take place from May 2023 until December 2023, racing in 16 different Grands Prix. In contrast to the previous season, which was completed from mid-2022 through mid-2023, this one will be completed by the end of the year 2023, thus aligning for subsequent seasons to be completed within the calendar year.
Drivers and teams are competing for the titles of World Drivers' Champion and World Constructors' Champion, respectively.
Official calendar
The calendar was made official during the 2022-23 season and includes 16 Grand Prixes, held in 13 countries on Micras. The current program foresees the start of the season on 5 May0 2023 with the Vegnese Grand Prix in Cossa, chosen as the inaugural venue again for the second season of Formula Micras and will close, with the Northcliff Grand Prix, on 17 December 2023.
It's confirmed the presence of one season-break in summer from 17 July to 14 September, in order to give the participating teams holidays and time to develop the cars.

Entries
The following constructors and drivers are currently under contract to compete in the 2022-23 World Championship. Each team can compete with tyres supplied by Vitesse or Bouncy Rings. Each team is required to enter two drivers, one for each of the two mandatory cars, and one reserve driver.
Team and driver changes
Compared to the 2022 season, the Mercurian team, Compton Motors, after the bad past season, decided not to re-enter for the following year, leaving a slot free on the grid. Requests to join the Formula Micras circus were, already during the previous season, very numerous and in fact there are two new teams signing up for the championship: Bintang Motorsports and Galaxical Territories FM Team, respectively from Daau and Phinbella. Both stables field two new drivers of the same nationality as the teams.
As for the drivers, most of the teams confirm the same as the previous year, continuing with the same line-up.
Scuderia DaeZoom FM announces, already during the last races of the 2022 season, the signing of Francesco Giocatore from Sburo, who finds a Tellian team again. Sburo replaces the departing Giocatore with Ben Lloyd, who was left without a seat after the depart of Compton Motors, convinced by the Mercurian driver's excellent season finale. Ddraig-Llywelyn Racing instead decides, with much media hype, to downgrade the driver Harwic Gywion, winner of the first ever Formula Micras race in Vegno, to third driver and promote the young Gareth Osian, while Titan does the same with Mark Alexander, author of a bad season 2022, without however having yet announced who will take his place.
Regulation changes
Tenical regulations
Compared to last season, where teams were free to develop and modify the car as they wished, this year there are significant changes. In fact, the regulations for the 2023 season provide for the mandatory use by all teams of certain spec components, which must be the same for all teams and cannot be developed during the season: brakes, suspension and gearbox. The projects of these 3 components are distributed before the season by MFM to all the teams, who then have to produce them autonomously in their factories, without the possibility of modifications. The engine and the front and rear wings are instead left in total freedom to the teams, who can modify and develop them autonomously throughout the season.
Sporting Regulations
The number of sets of tires available for each weekend are limited to 15 for each car, in 3 different compounds, decided in advance by the federation and which can be supplied by the teams through the two official suppliers (Vitesse or Bouncy Rings).
The additional points for Pole Position on Saturday and for the fastest lap on Sunday are maintained, which from this season are no longer worth just one point but two, as already happens for Pole Position.
As regard the race, the drivers who access the last phase of qualifying (Q3), so the first 10 drivers on the grid, are obliged to start on Sunday with the same tire with which they qualified for Q3: they will therefore have to start with the tire with which they set the fastest time during the second session. All the other drviers, therefore those qualified from 11th to 22nd position, will instead be able to freely choose the starting tire.
Season summary
Opening rounds
Trent Cooper, the reigning world champion, secured the first pole position for the season opening Vegnese Grand Prix, with the much-improved Enigma of George Hunt on the second spot and the two Typhons on the second row.Trent Cooper led nearly all the race comfortably, winning by twentysix seconds ahead of his last year's main rival, Samira Khan, who succeded to recover some places and end up on the podium. George Hunt took the last step of the podium in third place, confirming the good improvements of his team's car; good points at their first ever race also for Hairul Syazwan and Hitoshi Jeromiah Yakuzaki.
At Florian Grand Prix, Max Treuenfeld took pole position in qualifying and led the race for the first laps. Cooper, starting twelfth on the grid and receiving a drive-through penalty in the first laps, managed to reach only the eight spot by the half of the race, and remained there for the rest of the race with 1 stop strategy. Spettacolo took the second spot while George Hunt rounded out the podium finishing third, with Toshio Sōma and Maddox Islwyn finishing in fourth and fifth respectively.
At the Craitish Grand Prix, Ben Lloyd took his first ever pole position in Formula Micras, without however managing to materialize it into a victory. Due to a contact with Treuenfeld, he ends up in the rear and finishes only in ninth place. The winner of the Craitish GP was instead George Hunt, with his first career victory, who made an excellent strategy work and took first position against Treuenfeld who finished second. The title race after 3 rounds therefore sees three drivers separated by just over 10 points: Treuenfeld, Hunt and Cooper, with Mondozoom leading the constructors' championship.
In the Senyan Grand Prix, Sburo clearly dominated the weekend, placing first in Friday's free practice and taking pole position with Michele Spettacolo, flanked by the young Gareth Osian on the front row. Spettacolo manages to materialize the good qualifying result and takes the victory, maintaining the lead of the race from the first to the last lap. In second position comes an extraordinary Qualempresario who recovers 5 positions from the start and finishes on the podium, accompanied by the young Osian who conquers the first podium of his career after a splendid qualification. Difficult day for the championship leaders Treuenfeld and Hunt who ended the weekend without points, while Cooper scored only 6, with Spettacolo moving to -2 behind the championship leader Treuenfeld.
At the Calbain Grand Prix the values on the track change again, also thanks to the new updates to the front wing brought by Titan Motorsports. The two Florian drivers in fact conquer the entire front row, with Treuenfeld only in fifth position and both Hunt and Spettacolo in serious difficulty after the excellent first races. At the end of the race, however, Florian Schaffnaust came out on top and, thanks to a low downforce set-up and the very high top speed of his Enigma, after passing both Titans at the start, managed not to be overtaken throughout the entire race. and win his first career victory. However, both Cooper and Rhodes demonstrated the competitiveness of the car thanks to the new updates, both finishing on the podium. Treuenfeld reduced the damage by gaining a good fourth position, while Spettacolo and Hunt struggled, finishing in 7th and 11th position respectively.
At the Etzeland Grand Prix, the last GP before the summer break of almost two months, the values on the track change again, with the Sburo bringing the first updates of the season to the track and dominating the weekend from Friday. Spettacolo wins his second pole position of the season with his teammate completing the all-white-orange front row, closely followed by Cooper and an excellent Bròlt. In the race, however, it was not the vegnese driver who brought the Sburo to the top step of the podium but rather Ben Lloyd who won the first victory of his career, adding a fastest lap, due to a problem at the Spettacolo pit stop which forced him to lose more than 30 seconds and only finish ninth. Completing the podium are Trent Cooper and George Hunt, both in full contention for the drivers' title, as well as Treuenfeld who finishes only seventh, suffering once again, like last year, a Mondozoom without updates unlike his rivals for the title.
At the close of the first phase of the season, before the summer break, the 2023 season sees great uncertainty, still looking for its true master in both rankings: 6 races and 6 different winners. In the drivers' standings, however, Trent Cooper leads the group and is rewarded for his consistency of results, having finished all the races in points and with 4 podiums to his credit. His closest rival remains Treuenfeld who, despite a Mondozoom suffering in the last races, sees the first months of excellent results rewarded, with George Hunt trailing the Etzeland driver by only 7 points, also with 4 podiums under his belt but who pays two races out of the points. In the constructors' standings, Sburo leads the group with 120 points, but is closely followed with only 4 points behind Titan and then Mondozoom, which led for a long time in the first Grands Prix and is only third, with Enigma in fourth position, which suffers Schaffnaust's lack of results.
