Template:Gerenian city Garem Alnat (pronounced ɡə'rɛm ʌl'nʌt) is a city in Gerenia, in the province of Clements.

Etymology

The name Garem Alnat is in Archaic Gerenian, and roughly translates to English as "High Forest" (a literal translation being "Forest in/of the Height".

History

Garem Alnat was founded in 2012 on Saint Francis Hills (Gerenian: Tarinee Sîntke Frans), midway between Clementsgrad and Klavat, near Maiŷnat River. The town had a slow development since, with agriculture (especially cultivation of apples) being the main economic activity. However, since the beginning of 2013, upon the assumption of Adan Praŷare as mayor, a cement factory was established in the city, and a quarry was open. The expansion of the local economy had as a result a great increase of the population (from 9,000 in January to 18,000 in November, when the last national census was conducted).

Apple Festival

An annual event held over Shoe Day (12 March) weekend, the Garem Alnat Apple Festival is the largest community festivals in Clements. It celebrates the city's agricultural identity by cultivating apples in the nearby fields. The festivities also include the cutting of the world's largest "Maslîn" (a type of apple cake), carnival rides and vendors and a parade.
