Čirona is a city in northern Gerenia. It is the second biggest city in Erstveda Province, behind Port Elerat, and it is the capital city of Čirona District.
Etymology
The name Čirona comes from Spanish word chirona, which means "prison". In a small island located in front of the main settlement it would be built a prison.
Location
Čirona is located in West Erstveda, at the mouth of Venka River.
History
Čirona was founded on 23 August 2012. Its first Governor was Ivan Mastala, who was close to coth the Selîn and the Isherwood clans. The city grew rapidly thanks to the development of fishing in Arina Bay, and the proximity of great urban centres such as Port Elerat and Ramez.
Mastala ruled the city until December 2013, when he left. He was succeeded by Elie Bründe, of the Independent Party, confirmed as Governor in the elections in July 2014.
The No. 5 Prison
In Mielge Island, which belongs to the city, it operates the No. 5 Prison, a maximum security prison with a capacity of 200. The construction of the prison was initiated in 2012 and went on for three years, until it was opened in 2015. Convicts from all over the country took part in the construction, as forced labour is a common punishment in Gerenia, even for minor offences.
The Prison, like the shipyard, is one of the symbols of the city.
